More dynamic transition permissions

More dynamic transition permissions

See below forum post addressing this problem. It would be great to have more complex security settings for transitions (and in general). I could specifically see this being implemented by having some way to organize various property criteria into "And" and "Or" combinations. This would allow much more refined methods of applying security in various situations.

@River.EngumYTTWH

Can you please provide examples and what problem you are trying to solve?

In this case, I want to have a transition be available to all engineers, unless the file is a dwg. I want that transition to still be available for Admins though.

We currently have this setup as allowing transition for engineers and admins, but a check that file extension is not dwg. It doesn't seem possible with current settings (Vault 2025) to allow Admin's to make a transition regardless of file type.

Current plan is to have an "Admin Change" state which is accessible to/from all states to admins, though this seems sub-optimal.

Let me phrase it differently to make sure I understand.

You have a category that has multiple file types assigned to it.

No user should be able to transition a DWG file from state A to state B, except an Admin.

All other file types can transition from state A to state B, and all users can do so.

Does that sound correct?

If so, why not put the DWG files in their own category and setup the transition rules?

Yes that is correct. I don't want to have a new category to maintain for a small difference in file type. We currently already have a second category to accomplish this and it is very inconvenient to maintain both.
