Better loading behavior in Vault (Thick) Client, dynamic loading

Hi,   when a folder or subfolder contains many subfolders there is a very high loading time until I can see all folders.   This is the same behavior with Microsoft SQL Express editions and Microsoft SQL Standard and however how many CPU, physical RAM I give the machine this is the same.   A dynamic loading behavior would be very gread eg. as it exist for modern websites on the internet. I know in Vault I can have shortcuts, but when save in Inventor/AutoCAD with Vault Data Standard (VDS) there is no shortcut panel to use.   We customized it for our customers as they asked for this function within VDS, but when I need a new folder shortcut it is the above written behavior.   Is there any other way?   When an idea like that already exist, please merge it together.   Many thanks,     Matthias Schindler CAD/CAM/PDM technical specialist at Show More

Progress bar on the Server tasks dialog for the Vault Server console

Hi,   In my opinion it would be very helpful to have a progress bar for the Server Tasks dialog on the"Autodesk Vault Server Console" for Administrators, to see in which state the server tasks are, like we have it since many vault versions for example for migration of vaults or to create vaults.   If an idea like that already exists, please merge it together.   Many thanks!     Kind regards,   Matthias Schindler CAD/CAM/PDM technical specialist at Show More

Vault Pro 2019 on a 2016 server core

I would like to install a Vault Pro 2019 on a 2016 server core.  At the moment everything was ok, I install SQL standard, configure firewall etc. I ran the Pre-check tool, all good...   I launch the setup file for the vault, I can't select it because internet explorer is required to install the vault pro but internet explorer is not available on a core server...    I've got some interesting answer like;  "...I think it is an odd requirement to need IE components but since the Vault uses web components/IIS to connect I suspect there are some overlapping components there..."  It's just annoying to run a full version when you do not really log in the server, it required much more maintenance than a core installation    REference forum link https://forums.autodesk.com/t5/vault-forum/vault-pro-2019-on-a-2016-server-core/m-p/8171172/highlight/false#M74449 Show More

Preview/Thumbnail image of part(s) in Copy Design

When doing a Copy Design, it would be helpful to have a thumbnail image of each part, especially when doing multiple parts or large assemblies. That way you can see exactly what part(s) you need to Copy Design and what part(s) you can reuse. Show More

Support to backup to Cloud from ADMS Console

Currently we use Azure to store our backups from ADMS when I manually backup.  I take the Backup and push it to Azure once the backup has completed and been validated.   It would be nice to have an option to backup direct to a cloud service such as Azure, AWS or others direct from the ADMS console. branch and merge

Hi,      Just have this thought, as a programmer, we all familiar of version control software, like TFS, SVN or Git. Vault kind of like version control for design documenation, so it will be great if we can do the same branch, merge in vault?     Thanks Wes Show More

Vault backup Function Append incrementals to Full backup

you should be able to append to a Full backup instead of restoring all the incrementals as well as the full backup , seems stupid to have to do a full back quite frequently , and when concerning a large data base has to be done on the weekend , which in a IT enviroment is when all the other Server maintenance is done, but not on vault because I have to do a full backup which takes 15-18 hours when validating .     Show More

Get from Vault command in Inventor -> exclude related documents

At our company we usually want to get the "as saved" state of an assembly or drawing, meaning getting a fixed revision. At least in our environment the option "Related Documents" will cause the get command to take minutes instead of seconds to download to workspace. So this option is by default is disabled.   In the Inventor dialog there is not such an option   In fact the option is always "true", meaning a medium size assembly will take up to 10 minutes to open. If you trace the network traffic, you can see that Inventor is idleing 10 minutes on "GetRevisionAssociatedFilePathsByIds"   I don't know if we are the only company suffering from this, but it will mean a major improvement having an option to disable "related document". Furthermore I don't see any purpose in having all related drawings of all components downloaded to workspace when opening an assembly.   Best regards Erik     Show More

Ideas for plant integration impovements

When checking in a Project to Vault have the drawings and reference files linked to the project xml file as children.    Also, and this might be an issue for the plant group, but a way to pack and go the entirety of the project, including the database. This would be for when you work with outside vendors.  Show More

Maintenance mode for ADMS

We are in the situation that we have 5 ADMS today. We think that the number might be growing, when we add our foreign subsidiaries. For maintenance purposes it would be nice to have an option to set an ADMS to maintenance mode and direct the users to a different ADMS for that period. We plan to do some experiments if that is possible with a proxy or DNS server redirection, but a native support through Vault would be welcomed.      Show More

Check in/Check out should be an option, why don't we use lock's on documents?

Why don't we make Check in/Check out optional?   Example with document locks and without Check in/Check out: I'm working on a fast network and data loading is not an issue. Why do I need to Check out then? I just want to (automatically) lock the documents I'm working on and I do not want the hassle of Check in/Check out. So, when I hit the Save button everything is saved into Vault.   Example with Check in/Check out: - When I'm going to work on site, I can just check out all documents I need and when I'm back I can check in all these documents. - when I'm working at home trough a "slow" internet connection, I do not want all the traffic every time I save something, then I need to use check out at the beginning of my work and check in when I'm done.   This can be a user setting but also needs to be a admin setting to overrule users.
