I would love to see some sort of color coding in the project browser to make it easy to quickly differentiate between sheets, floor plans, families, etc.
A simple color blocking behind the texts could be of benefit.
@kimberly_fuhrman-jones just to confirm the tabbed project browser is something completely different but related to project browser. I think a combination of colour coding views and tabbed project browser would greatly help users in maintaining project browser and finding views etc.
I wouldn't even mind just seeing the same icons used in the view tabs... they're still smaller than the "Structural Plan:", etc. text. Would be nice if there was a separate option to turn them on/off...
This would be a great feature to help when putting sheets together, I constantly find myself losing views that I have duplicated and being unable to find what I am looking for. I know that the search feature already exists within the project browser, but this colour blocking would be a huge help to reduce the amount of time it takes to navigate, especially if you don't know the particular name of the entity you are looking for.
I agree with @wr.marshall, a tabbed view would be useful to separate out views from families/groups. This would save a lot of scrolling up and down all the time which is time consuming.
I also think the UI could be improved further by colour coding the project browser categories as the OP. Ideally a different colour for each phase, and a separate colour for Legends, Schedules and sheets. Just some subtle colours will be fine, nothing too gory!

Added an "On Sheet" tab which could be mixed like the current arrangement but would only show views, schedules etc... placed on a sheet. As for other tabs like floor plans even though I didn't show it you could have the on sheet boxes as introduced in R2023
Maybe even an option to color code the tabs to user preference overriding the grey
I drag the Properties dialogue box out to the right hand side of my screen so I can see it at all times. That way I get more room to see the Project Browser on the left of my screen. Keeping this availability would be important for me.
I would like to be able to define a color for each group level of the project browser, I believe that this way it helps to find, with greater visual ease, another work view when necessary.
The idea is that we can better configure the part of the Project Browser graphically.

Color coding is a must in the Project Browser - both for the text itself and the background - similar to Excel cells.
There should also be a tab with toolbars for the color - at least the cell color - letting the Revit user write down what each color signifies - like a simple keyplan.
I originally posted this idea 9 years ago. It's amazing that Autodesk hasn't done something so simple in all that time, that would make our lives so much easier and more productive.
