I would love to see some sort of color coding in the project browser to make it easy to quickly differentiate between sheets, floor plans, families, etc.
A simple color blocking behind the texts could be of benefit.
This is a great Idea. But unfortunately Autodesk doesn't care about our ideas, this is just an illusion to make us believe. But at the end they do whatever they want or whatever is convenient for them to keep themselves on top of the market. Have you see the numbers in this forum? Right now there are 7,499 ideas Gathering support, 1,519 archived, and only 101 implemented. And the funny thing is that some of those implemented ideas have less than 10 votes, and you will see ideas gathering support with +500 votes, so go figure.
But, anyways, I hope they implement this and others great ideas that users had posted here.
Exactly! This has been requested soooo many times but the big boys just pretend they don't get it. The browser is a place where things should be organized. It's such a mess. There was another similar request elsewhere and Autodesk closed it saying there was not enough support for the request. It's a user-interface design issue (my 7 year old will understand that categories of different things should be identified clearly). We should not be begging Autodesk to keep improving basics. Boy, I get frustrated with these guys.
They should at least:
Make category text much larger & bold.
Give the use the option to color the categories as Tom suggested.
Kiwicodes did a great plugin about five years ago but it's not available for current versions.
Yes, please enable conditional formatting functions for the Project Browser. You also could allow formulas to govern the conditions. This way not only could you enable quick visual recognition of the organization, you may be able to automate some error/issue checking in the organization.
This, along with quick search capabilities and jump-to-category (such as sheets, families, etc) initiated via keystrokes.
In most projects, views (even with filters and drop-down menus already provided) can become super difficult to navigate. It would be nice to be able to add colour, either manually and/or by filter to help keep track of views. For example, it would be nice to organize all my details by plan or section or scale as allowed currently but then additionally have them coloured in each list depending on their location (main building, extension, exterior, site).
I agree generally! the project browser has barely changed in the 15years or so I've been using revit. It's about time it got a bit more user friendly for large projects! Split the Views, Sheets, Families into tabs? If the Familes had it's own tab, you could see them having thumbnails etc to make browsing the project easier, and could provide links to office libraries as well...
Please Improve PB for Better Control and Organization.
In large projects, PB becomes very confusing. It is better if we can change the color, font, background of each discipline into PB. for example below image
@GHASEM_ARIYANI: This is a highly requested feature , in many ideas and forms. The least Autodesk could do is creating alternating-color rows, like we can do in Schedules.
It could help make the project browser more user friendly and useful by allowing us to set different colours for each floor plan title and other things under the project browser, that would speed searching and filing and also help the user to sort the sheets, floor plans, sections and elevation by the colour label.
