Offset distance for opaque background dimension text

Offset distance for opaque background dimension text

When setting up new text style with an opaque background, users get to choose how large this opaque background is. Dimension text does not have this option. Found this in Revit 2025.4. No idea why this never bothered me before. It might at least take the text offset into account and not have the dimension put stencils into the dimension line.

This might illustrate the issue:20250925 083029-Autodesk Revit 2025.4 - [TA_ARC_R25.rvt - Plan_ TA.001 - Tutorial outcome].png

Opaque background size has never been an option for text notes either or labels. The only thing you can control is the border offset which lots of users want a fill background to border edges.

This has been requested for years so hopefully we can get it sometime soon.

I admit I had wrongly assumed that the text leader/border type parameter had something to do with the size of the virtual washi tape under the text. Having that for the dimension text won't help at all. Still, I could not find anything similar when posting the idea. Maybe that is down to poor choice of words. @Mike.FORM If you've got that old post bookmarked somewhere, would you care to paste its link here? For now a work around is to make a copy of a text (or dimension) type and remove everything but the text, make that almost white, bold and put it under the actual text or dimension.20250926 075405-Autodesk Revit 2025.4 - [Project1_r25(Recovery).rvt - Legend_ a_Standard_2D Lini.png

@Mike.FORM All voted for. All very good and luckily none mentions dimension text background. So my idea is not that absurd.
