Assistance Required: Inverting Element Selection in Revit Views

Assistance Required: Inverting Element Selection in Revit Views

Dear Autodesk Experts,

I hope this message finds you well.

I am currently working in Revit and would appreciate your assistance. While navigating through different views such as floor plans and 3D views, I am looking for a way to invert the selection of elements—that is, to deselect currently selected elements and select everything else instead.

Could you please advise if there is a built-in method or recommended workflow to achieve this?

Thank you in advance for your support.

Best regards,
Vishu

That is a way complicated request because you would need to specify your everything else... do you mean model elements or anotations too? And those anotations should include the ones that are only in the view. And would you like it to include stuff that is actually hidden in view or temporarily hidden? And Phases, view ranges, crops and annotation crops...

I'm saing this because when moving all elements of the project x meters up or down I often created a group and then manually add to that group all the 2D stuff (like the section them selfves) I wanted to view along too. It was a pain to gather all the elements I needed and it often took triel and error, and that's why I used the group, so that I could keep adding those 3D/2D elements I could not select at the same time in the 3D view.

Though I agree this should be simple in teory - I do not feel it's that simple, not that it should be used in practice - as it can be a bit dangerous if the programer makes some mistakes, and you end up with stuf in your selection that you don't want and don't realise it's selected... just saying...

No direct method, but you can use (temporary hide/isolate) tool in the bottom tool bar, so use hide your selection then selecet all remaining elements
