make ALL parameters schedule-able and filter-able

make ALL parameters schedule-able and filter-able

So often we are left with powerful data within the Revit model that is not schedule-able nor available in view filters. The data is there, but we cannot use it, in what are supposed to be core BIM functions like schedules and filters. Why is it that we can access those parameters and parameters values through the API or Dynamo, but that Revit itself cannot? Makes no sense. Open the data floodgates please!

This would be fantastic.

If it could allow embedded schedule parameters to interact and calculate with the parameters of the schedule they are embedded in, that would be even better.

Thanks for your submission and votes on this idea!  We are evaluating where this request falls into our roadmap and will provide an update when we have made a decision.

Thank you for putting this under review.

If the task looks daunting, there's an almost-perfect standard out there of what Revit scheduling should look like: it's called Ideate BIMLink.

Should include a "Titleblock" Field for Sheet Lists.

Schedule-able, filter-able, and tag-able!

@harlan_brumm: How did the evaluation go? 🙂 *Curious*

They are probably thinking that it is time-consuming but not particularly difficult unless they also change the system parameters we want to use for numeric calculations that are text to be the correct type of parameter which would probably be a headache, but obviously very much appreciated. @scott_dakin That's exactly why we need text-handling/conversion functions (see Allow text in formulas [UNDER REVIEW] and Concatenation Of Parameters Within Families).

Thanks for the links, I have voted for both.

Would be very useful, especially to filter with workset, for example.

Take a look at this new tool on Revit Store:

123 Search

It solves this problem and many more.

I would like to see the parameter 'room bounding' be available in view filters so we can create a view template that shows room bounding elements. It would help with tracking room issues.

Just build them all in as BuiltIn parameters... Too many shared parameters, too little time.

@aaronrumple What do you mean? The problem is BuiltIn parameters that aren't schedulable (copying them to Shared Parameters is the workaround).

Adding to this, all built-in parameters should be made available in the Family Editor, so that they can be used to calculate parameter values based on a built-in instance parameter. I'd specifically like to access the "Elevation from Level" parameter in the family editor, but it would also be useful for others as well.

@GPnmulder Yes, it would be great if there was a Tag family that, when loaded, could tag ANY family and, upon tagging, the user could select which Parameter(s) in the family to report.

@jan  Another workflow could be to make pushing shared parameters into families easier, perhaps a mapping dialogue that allows the user to specify which Parameter in each family is being mapped/replaced.

@jan  Yet another workflow may be to add a Parameter mapping dialogue in the schedule itself, allowing mapping of parameters for each family type to a Parameter in the schedule.
