Did you mean:

make ALL parameters schedule-able and filter-able

make ALL parameters schedule-able and filter-able

So often we are left with powerful data within the Revit model that is not schedule-able nor available in view filters. The data is there, but we cannot use it, in what are supposed to be core BIM functions like schedules and filters. Why is it that we can access those parameters and parameters values through the API or Dynamo, but that Revit itself cannot? Makes no sense. Open the data floodgates please!

@jan Still another solid functionality would be binding non-shared Project Parameters to families when they are copied to other projects, preventing data loss

@jan @And maybe the golden ticket is Master Parameters Manager that contains ALL of this functionality, allowing a Single individual to perform all cleanup from one spot.

Status changed to: Gathering Support

Congratulations! We are updating this thread to Gathering Support. We are continuing to evaluate where this request falls into our roadmap and will provide an update when we have made a decision.

Congratulations... for being downgraded?! This one has over 600 votes - how much support needs to be gathered @kimberly_fuhrman-jones ?

We are in the process of improving and consolidating the Revit Ideas. This is by no means a downgrade...simply part of our cleanup efforts. Rest assured that your Idea and feedback is valuable to our teams, and that your Idea will continue to be reviewed.

An Autodesk guy mentioned in a recent webcast that they don't use the "UNDER REVIEW" tag anymore, because they review ALL posts (including "ARCHIVED" ones). We've seen a significant uptick in "ACCEPTED" ideas and additions to the roadmap, and my archived idea with only 4 votes got accepted in July, so I can only assume that's true. 🙂

Only time will tell if they continue to take care of the "low-hanging fruit" that's been accumulating over the years, or if it's just their last-ditch effort to try to get people to trade in their perpetual licenses...

Really hope this gets accepted to.

It isnt even an "idea" it is just the most important thing for a big part of the industry.
And actually is in the acronym of BIM for sake (Building Information Modeling).

The fact that we are not able to fully extract the data that is there and in an effective way use it is a shame.

It should be possible to:
- Tag everything  (preferably with one tag to rule them all ), for example the abillity to tag the thickness of layers of system components like walls, floors,...
and with this specific example i mean that with one tag you could list the structure of the component.
- Schedule everything

- Filter everything

I also see this idea as a important addition that would make so many more soulutuions and idea's possible
The OR filter in schedules combined with the posibility to add filter lines.

You could say but yeah why would you need that many filters, my opinion is that you can never know what somebody might need.

So i am happy to see that they finally are using more of the feedback that is given on here.

Also the fact that you can now filter based on phasing is great, combined with the fact that you
can now use shared parameters in family's , shows that we might be on the right way 🙏

+1 Not sure what the thinking here was to make built-in parameters that can't be scheduled. The same aplies to line based families that have a length parameter.

Idea hangs here from 2016, now in end of 2023 it still sits in the corner. Sad 😞
