Inventor Nastran 2023.2 has been released. This is my list of changes that I believe are important to users, taken from various sources.
To install 2023.2, use the Autodesk Desktop App (installed to your computer when any Autodesk software is installed), or go to manage.autodesk.com and click “Product Updates” on the left. Version 2023.2 installs on top of any previous version of 2023.
Note: There was a release version 2023.1.2. The main change in 2023.1.2 was to fix a problem with Fatal Error S1121 when running an analysis with 2023.1, but 2023.1.2 also included some updates related to functionality missing in version 2023.0. I have included the changes for 2023.1.2 into this document.
Item |
Change in version 2023.2 |
1 |
Corrected a problem where the damping value from a different analysis could be used for the current analysis. See Wrong damping value can be used in a Nastran analysis. |
2 |
Disabled the input for structural damping in an Explicit Dynamics analysis. Structural damping is not implemented in that analysis type. Rayleigh damping should be used instead of structural damping. |
3 |
Corrected a problem where the damping values would not be saved when clicking OK to close the dialog. |
4 |
Corrected a crash if a new component was created in an assembly while in the Nastran environment. |
5 |
The Model tab can now be accessed while in the Nastran environment. (2023.1.2) |
6 |
Contact, loads, and constraints are now highlighted on the model when selected in the Model Tree. (2023.1.2) |
7 |
Box selection works for selecting solids in the Idealization. (2023.1.2) |
8 |
Box selection works for selecting faces or edges for loads and constraints. (2023.1.2) |
9 |
Can now select faces for loads and constraints before activating the dialog. The pre-selected faces will be loaded into the Entities box on the dialog. (2023.1.2) |
10 |
The marking menu now appears when you right-click in the graphics window. (2023.1.2) |
11 |
When an analysis is duplicated, the name of the analysis is now in edit mode. |
12 |
Inventor section view (“View > Visibility > Half Section View” and so on) can be defined. (2023.1.2) |
13 |
Can switch between multiple windows/models in Inventor while any of the models are in the Nastran environment. (2023.1.2) |
14 |
Can change the visibility of parts from the Inventor Model tab while in the Nastran environment. (2023.1.2) |
15 |
Pressing the spacebar will repeat the last command. (2023.1.2) |
16 |
Corrected problem with the Model tab disappearing after creating a section view in Inventor; that is, “View > Visibility > Half-Section View, not the Nastran section view of the results. See After creating a section view Inventor browser vanishes in Inventor 2023. |
17 |
Added Warning G3054 to the output to show how many bonded contact elements were converted to offset bonded contact (when a gap exists between the elements). For details, see Cause of rotation result in a Nastran analysis when using solid elements. |
18 |
Improved the contact stiffness calculation when faces have an initial penetration. This should help with the convergence. |
19 |
Corrected equations [25] through [28] in the documentation for Pm and Pm+b for stress linearization. A factor of 2 was missing from the equations. |
20 |
Corrected the documentation for the fatigue life. Instead of these equations:
the correct equations are:
where S=KF*Si=KF*(Smax-Smin)/2. |
21 |
(added to list on July 24, 2023) Fixed the "Find Thin Bodies" command. Starting with version 2023.0, the command would not automatically list the bodies that were found to be thin. |
