Inventor Nastran 2022.1 has been released. This is my list of changes and explanation, taken from the What's New, Release Notes, and other issues addressed by development for the Inventor Nastran interface and the Nastran solver.

2022.2 (and all "dot releases") can be installed using the Autodesk Desktop App or manage.autodesk.com.

Item

Change

1

Added Report Generation for Normal Modes analysis.

2

Moment loads can be added in an explicit analysis (both dynamics and quasi-static).

3

Improved meshing when using continuous meshing with shell elements when multiple faces (4 faces) share a common edge.

4

Moment option on the SPC Summation dialog is now available when using solid elements. Note the Moment option is a calculation based on the reaction force time the moment arm. See this article.

5

Contour plot of some shell element results are wrong. The centroidal value is used instead of the corner values such as for Max and Min Principal Strain Bottom/Top. See this article.

6

Curved surfaces that use Sliding/No Separation contact behave like welded contact. THIS IS BY DESIGN AND HAS NOT BEEN CHANGED. The documentation is updated to indicate that sliding contact should only be used with flat faces. Use separation contact for curved faces.

7

Corrected issue that caused the Nastran input to be lost when changing the Model State in the modeling environment. See this article.

8

Corrected issue in which mesh for shell elements was creating distorted elements. See this article.

9

Corrected issue that would give a “Qt platform plugin” error when running an analysis. See this article.

10

Solved time for models with multiple subcases has been improved when different subcases have the same constraints applied in different IDs. (In other words, it is better to apply a constraint to multiple subcases rather than apply copies of constraints to different subcases. This is now detected and made more efficient for the analysis.)

11

Corrected online documentation for iLogic subtype values for enforced motion load.
