Inventor Nastran 2021.0 has been released and is now available to install. From manage.autodesk.com,

  1. Locate the Product Design & Manufacturing Collection.
  2. Click “View items” button and locate Inventor Nastran. (Of course, you need to have Inventor 2021 installed before installing Inventor Nastran.)
  3. Click “View downloads” link for version 2021.0.
  4. Download/install Autodesk Inventor Nastran 2021.0.

Alternatively, use the Autodesk Desktop App (installed to the computer when any Autodesk software is installed) and locate Autodesk Inventor Nastran 2021.0.

This is my list of changes and explanation, taken from the What's New, Release Notes, and other issues addressed by development for the Inventor Nastran interface and the Nastran solver.

Item

1

Explicit Dynamics and Quasi-Static are no longer a Tech Preview.

2

Added sections to the Self-Paced Training for the Explicit Dynamics and Quasi-Static analyses. (Be sure to go through the Advanced Analysis Tutorials, too.)

3

Corrected Nastran file created when using offset bonded contact in a manual contact pair. This eliminates the T2217 warnings and produces correct results.

4

Because "sliding/no separation" contact does not support friction, the coefficient of friction input is disabled on the dialog.

5

Fatal Error no longer issued when Enforced Temperatures and Convection Loads applied on the same nodes. It is now only a warning T2287.

6

The length of the arrows for a hydrostatic force load is now consistent across multiple surfaces.

7

A fatal error T2090 is given if the plastic stress-strain curve has a slope greater than the modulus of elasticity.

8

Improved input of numerical values when the decimal symbol is not a period (“.”).

9

Explicit analysis works with a borrowed license.

10

Improved the convergence of nonlinear models with shell models that use an offset of the midplane and include RSPLINEs.

11

In a nonlinear static analysis with multiple subcases, using NLSUBCREINIT=ON may not remove the load at the beginning of the next subcase. This problem may have been limited to shell elements with tension-only properties.

12

Response Spectrum Generation was not generating the results in the FNO file (the binary results). Thus, the spectra could not be displayed in FEMAP.

13

Corrected problem during an analysis to handle RBE3 element (interpolating rigid connector) with many “spokes”

14

F1 help in Editor works again.

15

When entering the frequencies in the Dynamic Setup (such as for a frequency response), entering a frequency with a decimal was splitting the input into two separate frequencies. This has been corrected.

16

Additional parameters added for Topology Design Optimization.

17

Improve results of topology optimization analysis for models that include centrifugal loads.

18

Topology Optimization: improved the results when using Inertial Relief.

19

Adjust meaning of SLINEPENTOL when using bonded or offset bonded contact in solver contact. See the Notes at the end of this article: Understanding maximum activation distance and contact type in a Simulation.

rev 1. 2020 Apr 10. Added item 19.
