I am having a really fun time trying to install AutoCad 2012 from a network deployment image. The image has done a large number of computers, but I am having problems with one. I am attaching the detail log file and the errors I see are 1708 and the ugly 1603 (anything possible).
Solved! Go to Solution.
Make sure that there is not already an AutoCAD 2012 folder on that machine or in the registry. I also see that you are installing from a mapped drive instead of UNC path. Thus you probably set up your deployment wrong.
Make sure the client has locat admin rights, UAC is disabled, and anti-virus is off.
I have to use a mapped path since end users are all over the country and bandwidth prohibts installing on anything other than a local server.
I cleared off all Autodesk (and therefore AutoCad) folders, including hidden etc. They have local Admin, same aspect as other computers at that location. I am going to try doing the .Net and Directx install manually and see if that helps. Just have to wait for them to come to work.
This case has been escalated into Product Support. My guess is this....
I am trying to contact the user and determine if he even needs full AutoCad or if his needs point more towards using True View instead.
It looks like Design Review installs and then it fails with the AutoCad portion.

Can you try installing the software with default setting and have NO update configured. I would try a DIRECT install and not the deployment image if this is happening on one computer.
Regretfully he is 4 hours away and it is only his computer. There have been several installs from the deployment image on their server, which is the same image used by all the locations. I am sure it will be some prereq. that he has a newer version of, just a matter of which one and does he need AutoCad or just to look and print a drawing. He does not get in until 3:00 PM central time so I won't have a good answer until later.
Attempted again yesterday afternoon, fialure again about 90% done with AutoCad. C++ was the correct version. I am attaching a zip with all the log files from the install time frame. The computer was cleaned of all files and folders with Autocad in them for the install.
I sure hope someone has a suggestion. Next post with contain the Autocad log.
The install finallty took after I did the folllowing steps.
1. Logged in as myself (administrator)
2. Downloaded and ran dxwebsetup.exe, then dotNetFX40_Full_Setup.exe (repair).
3. Regedit to find old Autodesk entry and renamed to old-Autodesk.
4. Ran the install.
