Migration from student to non-profit license I have a current valid student idea and taking valid Autodesk-related courses, therefore I have apps installed under an Autodesk student license. I have observed all of the licensing rules during my student license period including not using it for commercial use, posting any projects publicly, etc. Techsoup.org approved a license subscription for the media-related non-profit of which I also am the Executive Director. I won't be using projects from the student license within the new license, which I have seen forum posts that is a violation of the student license agreement. Questions: 1. Do I need to create a new, separate Autodesk ID? 2. Do I need to uninstall the student version, and then reinstall the new stand-alone version? 3. Or is there some way to migrate convert over the existing software? It's a bit a of pain to download install the software, and just planning ahead. Besides taking taking half a day to download, the download often fails, even using download manager, and it takes a few times to complete. As I have a current working installation, "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" as they say. Thank you.

You should never use the same Autodesk Account that you created for your student requirements or request to gain a commercial license. Many have done this and it just causes so many issues that Autodesk has to sort it out. In the end create a new Autodesk account that will be associated to your commercial license.
In addition never mix student versions of the application on the same machine as a commercial license. Meaning you should uninstall the existing Autodesk applications that are student based (license) and remove residual license information in order to protect your future. Yes its going to be a pain but overall it will be worth it.
So I would recommend that you perform a clean uninstall per these instructions and remove the existing license information per this instructions.

Now for the (possibly) good news: if you downloaded the installer then you don't need to download it again. If you did the integrated "download/install/activate" then I would recommend you just download the installer (and any SPs, hotfixes, etc.) this time and keep them somewhere safe. That way if you have to reinstall (disaster recovery, for example) you will not need to download it yet again.
And just because it keeps coming up: get your commercial account associated with a local reseller. If you have activation or other licensing issues in the transition they'll be able to assist.

Definitely follow the license removal process provided by Mark. Simply uninstalling is not enough as educational products will still show up on an audit even if uninstalled -- if the license is not removed.
Additionally, to reiterate, do not use any of the files created in the educational version in a commercial version.

I followed the instructions above. The organization purchased the subscription and received a Pin.
Where are the PIN and RESELLER entered? It says enter the PIN "above." Where is above?
I've gone to the management tab of my account and no products are available to download, and don't see anything in a search on autodesk, either. I searched "enter PIN" on autodesk and get instructions for how downloading products and activitating them.
I wouldn't be asking on the forum if I could find the answer myself.
Email received is below:
Please register your PIN within 10 days of receiving this email.

Hello @Anonymous,
I assume @akiva is the new UserID you created & it seems the non-profit purchased their license through a reseller.
Did the Reseller provide you with this information & you can't locate the PIN? If so reach out to them about the PIN.
This page may help describe the process a bit better, How to register your PIN and initiate your subscription.

Thanks to you, I was able to enter the PIN and reseller. However, the M&E collection hasn't populated into the product and services for downloading, even after logging out. Perhaps there is a lag period as the knowledgebase says where Autodesk needs to verify something.
"NOTE: You will receive a confirmation email from Autodesk at the email address associated with your Autodesk account. This email will confirm that your subscription has started. Autodesk recommends that you begin using your product only after you receive this confirmation email. Once you have received it, you will only need your Autodesk ID and password to use the product on any computer. A serial number will not be necessary to use the product. "
And yes, I just received the confirmation email from Autodesk.
Thank you, Natasha, you have been the most helpful Autodesk representative, guiding me to Techsoup.org in the first place, and you are always patient with best answers.
I would mark this as a solution, but the button to do so that is supposed be below this isn't there.

According to this link sent to me with the Autodesk confirmation, the M&E products should appear in the management tab of my account.
However, they do not. I get this message instead: "We experienced some technical issues. If any Products or Services are missing below, try signing in again."
The product IS listed in "Billing and orders"
I have signed out, and signed in again several times. But to no avail.
Please advise how to proceed.

Hello @Anonymous,
Thank you very much for the kind words, much appreciated!
The Autodesk products will appear in Management section of the Contract Admin account & will need to be assigned from the "User" tab on the Contract Administrator's account the person who purchased the software. Please review this link for information on how to use the User Management section of an Autodesk Account Video Tutorial.

Hello @Anonymous,
Sorry to hear you still don't have access. Thank you for getting back to us on this, so this was something unrelated to the I&L department, it was a finance account related issue.
Feel free to keep us posted when they get back to you or if you need more help.

Everything worked with your link after the Finance dept. sent me an email that the products were released. I guess that they have to obtain the funds from techsoup.org after the license subscription was purchased.
I have to publically thank Autodesk and Techsoup.org for allowing nonprofits to obtain a subscription. It would be beyond our current financial ability to do so, which enables our organization to fulfill its mission, specifically A&E Media.
I apologize, but there is no "Accept as solution" button any on this thread. I tried looking with other browsers, on other computers.
The knowledgebases say that it's supposed to be below the thread, but nothing is there.
