We appear to have a problem with the Network Licence Manager (NLM) not releasing apps that are part of Building Design Suite (BDS) Ultimate if a user first opens a copy Revit Architecture.
The behaviour is;
User opens Revit Architecture (not part of BDS)
The same user opens AutoCAD that is part of BDS
User closes AutoCAD, but the NLM reports the user still has the BDS licence in use.
It appears the NLM is switching the Revit Architecture licence to be the Revit licence in BDS when AutoCAD or any other BDS app is opened, but does not switch back to the original Revit Architecture licence on quitting BDS apps.
Does anyone have a solution, perhaps using the options file or a setting in NLM we have not spotted yet?
The only solution we currently have is restarting the NLM each time and telling users to quit Revit before opening other apps, neither of which are ideal.

This is typical of license cascade. When a license is cascaded to another suite (either in upgrading to a pro module, or to a suite to avoid license duplication) the license is not released back to a lower state. This has often been a complaint in Inventor as well -- when a suite user cascades to Pro, it stays Pro until close. You might be able to control this better with an options file. It might require some guess and check on the syntax.
For eveything you could possibly want to know about the adskflex.opt Options file for FlexLM, please see my KB article here:

Good Luck!
Thanks for the very speedy response Travis!
And for confirming our suspisions. Makes sense and sure we'll be glad of the behaviour once the number of users and licences grows in the business.
perhaps the option to change the default behavoir could be added to the next release of NLM.
Thanks again for the speedy response.
