Unable to install 3ds Max 2023 via any method

Can anyone please provide assistance on getting Max 2023 installed (it might be any version of Max, not sure). I currently have 2022.0 installed. The autodesk desktop app just says "Waiting" after pressing Install and then immediately just stops and resets back to "Install".

I've tried:

  • Reinstalling C++ redistributables
  • Restarting my machine
  • Downloading via the Desktop app
  • Installing via manual browser download
  • Running installers as admin

FWIW there seems to be some bug with my windows 10 install where I can't actually do windows updates, and I found somewhere this may be an issue. Other software seems to install fine. Thanks!

If you are having a self-extract problem with the installation files, you might try installing 7-zip and extracting the .exe archive files yourself to C:\Autodesk.  Then you can run the setup from there.  That is what I would do in this situation.

Thanks for the suggestion Travis! I tried that and it unpacked a bunch of files without names, which I found odd. It wasn't like the standard Setup application that ends up in C:\Autodesk.

I ended up just reinstalling Windows 10 on my machine and that seemed to work. I'm guessing this is more on the Windows Update end of things and somehow my Windows version got out of whack.
