problem licensing with LMTOOLS for 3DSMAX 2012

hi, we are a small company with 4 employee and we recently moved our office, hired new people and etc...

i was not the one who first installed lmstools and the computer and now it look like it is now my job.

The one who did it was fired 3 years ago and it is impossible to contact him

for a new computer, i have to instal 3DSMAX 2012

we have a perpetual license

i used the tutorial on autodesk to make sure everything is set up and working fine on the server side

I tried both service mode and file mode and both of them work on server side.

for the user computer, when i press next after typing the server name i get this:

The flexnet license finder has completed. press finish...

so the communication with the server work but right after i get this:

A valid license could not be obtained by the network license manager

error -15.570.0

On the server side, when i do a Perform Status Enquiry

--------
Status

Flexible License Manager status on Tue 12/22/2015 08:42

This license can be checked out

finally

FLEXnet Licensing v11.9.0.0 build 87342_i86_n3fff

I absolutly need to make this work by friday or it may cause us a really costly delay in our planning + all the time i have spent on that instead of programming

the lmtool is runned as administrator

the 3ds max was installed as administrator and is also opened as administrator for the licensing

thanks for the quick answer

as i can see, error -15 means Cannot connect to license server system. The server (lmadmin or lmgrd) has not been started yet, or the wrong port@host or license file is being used, or the TCP/IP port or host name in the license file has been changed. Windows XP SP2 platforms have a limit on the number of TCP/IP connection attempts per second that can be made, which your application may have exceeded. Refer to the manufacturer's documentation on how to change this limit.

on the lmtools in the start/stop/reread tab, when i press start server it says: server start failed. The server may already be running!

So i assume it is working

The ReRead License File button return no error, only Reread server license file completed

when i try to execute the imgrd.exe as admin or not, i only get a blackbox popping really fast, i could see some text on it for a fraction of a second but i were not successfull in trying to make a screenshot

i am currently reading the whole licenseadministration.pdf in hope of finding a solution or where i have been wrong since i had to guess everything so far

PING the server.  Make sure it gets the correct IPv4 address.  Do not use a IPv6 address or you will have to make some changes on the client.

Do the http://servername:27000 links work?  Do you get the jargon page?

i finally managed to make it work

to make it short, every problem was there and most of them was caused by the bad setup of the ancient tech guy.

ipv6 was on, network was on public, flexnet had no reference for the lic file, the flexnet service was not on automatic, the server firewall and so on and so on....

thanks for all the solutions, i would say that every solution posted here was actually one of the many problem. this was a huge headache

We just ran into a similar problem, but none of the solutions proposed above work.

We are a startup with an 8 user license running on a server since January with no issue until today. Today, with no changes other than Windows updates, it refuses to check out any licenses at all.

The 'FlexNet Licensing error:-125,147' error is mentioned here http://forums.autodesk.com/t5/installation-licensing/flexnet-licensing-error-125-147/td-p/2834003 but does not apply to this problem.

Both client and server can talk fine to eash other.

I was copying the Max install locally to reinstall it, but it suddenly started working again for everyone.

Does FlexNet LM 'phone home' at all? It feels like something like this was happening - or not happening in this case. In the future, is there any way to check this?

Cheers

John

...this is still happening sporadically; we just have to wait 15 mins and try again. The best workaround seems to be to leave Max running as the license check is only done at startup.

The server can be pinged and it's running fine (I'm remoted in to it)

Cheers

John

Are you using FLEXLM_TIMEOUT on the clients?
