With the introduction of AutoCAD 2026 the Geolocation Map option has become limited to only ESRI maps or images. Bing is no longer available. But the Bing maps had the option to have a hybrid map where both the images and feature names (i.e., road names) would show up at the same time. The ESRI maps do not have a hybrid option. Autodesk Docs offers an editable "description" field for every file stored on the platform. Utilizing this field can help reduce the number of characters needed in filenames. However, when files are opened or accessed through Civil 3D, there is no way to display this description. To fully utilize the description feature, Civil 3D should include an option to show the "description column" in the Start Tab. Show More

Hello everyone, in the IfcInfraExportMapping.json file Civil 3D elements can be mapped with the ifc classes. I am missing the possibility to define the attributes “Name” and “Description” in the ifcRoot. As a possibility I would suggest to integrate this into the IfcInfraExportMapping.json (see picture, red frame is the suggestion). If there is already a possibility I would be glad for help, otherwise I would like an implementation and a general simplification of this mapping process. It would be really nice to quickly filter items in the Civil 3D toolspace using search.. A little search bar at the top would save a lot of hassle! "Revit can bring in coordination models and there are section tools available in Revit to help the viewer. Whereas Civil 3D or even just 3D AutoCAD can bring in coordination models but has no view sectioning tools available at all. Non-Revit users still need to be able to take advantage of basic viewing tools. This seems like a large oversight really, given that the ability to xref coordination models into cad exists, it would be really helpful if tools were then available to view the model easier."   Having something like a Section Box to cut through the chosen plane and look into Clash detection in Civil 3D when working with Coordination Models would be great. Me and my customer have tested the workflow between ArcGIS Online and Civil 3D to transform gis objects in Civil 3D objects regarding pipe networks. You can´t really trust the results if you have a detail view of the sructures and pipes.   First I would like to have a better mapping between AGOL network components and Civil 3D network components. It would be great to chosse a parts list in the drawing for the mapping. This is possible but it has no effect and every time a generic parts list is generated. The user has no real control of the choosen components for pipes and structures. It would to have a mapping for the dimension and the material of pipes and the type and diameter for structures at least. The user interface oft he mapping should be in the same way as the first new dialogue where you could already configure and save some settings in a better way. Show More

Currently the Civil 3D Connector (_ARCGISCONNECTOR) saves back all entities in a given feature regardless whether it changed or not. This effectively overwrites all the data in GIS with every save back. It would be far more useful if it only sync'd back new and edited objects. This would also allow multiple users to write to the same layer without overwriting each other.   ESRI's ArcGIS connector for AutoCAD syncs data back to GIS for only new/edited objects. The limitation with that connector is that it does not recognize civil 3D objects.    Show More

Customizing Civil 3D Reports is a painful, frustrating, and fruitless task, it appears Civil 3D uses various methods for exporting reports, some are easy to edit and others are shrouded in a web of mystery that even the best programmers cannot explain or untangle. Can we PLEASE consolidate the way these reports are created and make it easy to edit of fine-tune the reports to come out in a format a company or agency wants?!! Autodesk removed the ability of C3D installs to have a shortcut to run "plain" AutoCAD Map starting with C3D 2023. This was yet another unwanted "feature" by Autodesk. There is no functional or logical reason to remove the shortcut from C3D installs. C3D already comes with core AutoCAD and there is no reason to have to install AutoCAD separately. Autodesk's "solution" just adds gigs of wasted space to a workstation for absolutely no benefit to the user.  Show More

If you import a landxml with a pipe network, Civil 3D takes always the first material of the component list and not the material of the  Landxml entry. You can  use a compponent list of your choice, your own or the complete catalogue etc.  An improvement would be that "landxml-material" is recognized and translated in a Civil 3D pipe material. Furthermore there should be a warning that the "landxml-material" is not in the civil 3D component list. And there is only the common field "description" for the material and the size of the pipe.   This behaviour is known by the autodesk support. Show More

When using Vault add-in functionalities in Civil 3D Prospector, user can see only few file properties. See image attached.    It would be an a big improvement if those properties could be customizable (e.g.  the subject, description, or state etc.), like it is in the dialog-box/window from the vault-ribbon.  Show More

GeoTiff files can be optimized for the web, and we see this variant becoming popular in the GIS world. Unfortunately Civil 3D does not recognize this TIFF format and refuses to create a Surface from the file.   As a workaround people need to open and save the file in, say, QGIS. It would be great if users can skip this step (assuming they understand why Civil 3D does not accept a valid Tiff file). Show More
