Waaaay back in Land Desktop (LD) there was a way to set a surface as "Current". This was really handy when a drawing had multiple surfaces but you wanted to stick with one for a period of time while you're moving about finishing up a project.   This option does not exist in Civil 3D.  Because it was in LD we know it's technically possible to do, so can this be added to C3D, so we don't have to waste time picking the same thing over and over? While grading, creating and adding feature lines to a design surface. We typically have an EG surface data ref'd into the file. I would like surfaces that can't have feature lines added to them not be included in the popup box that shows up when adding the feature line to the surface. this adds annoying extra unnecessary clicks.    I'd like the option to set by default in the grading design file, to have all feature lines added to the surface you choose once. This could speed up the grading process.    What do you think?  Show More

I would like to see an enhancement to the AutoCAD Panorama Grading Elevation Editor. Currently, there is a button on the Panorama for unselecting all rows while in the Grading Elevation Editor.  While working with this tool, I have noticed that the process of selecting multiple items can be time-consuming and would significantly benefit from the inclusion of a "Select All" button.  Adding this feature would allow for quicker and easier selection of all rows at once. There needs to be a way to grip edit snap to changes in an xref-ed site base without changing the feature line elevation. Small changes turn into a lot more work when elevations snap to the 0 elevation of the xref. I recommend some tool (like hold ctrl and click) to keep the feature line vertex at it's current elevation. Using the ".xy" command is still too burdensome. Show More

Artificial Intelligence is the absolute future. I don't know what you guys are mulling around over there in San Francisco but Autodesk needs to build an AI or someone else is going to do it. There are A LOT of redundant tasks in the CAD/Civil space that AI would be perfect for helping designers and CAD managers automate. A lot of the computing and modeling can also be done by or done with the assistance of an AI. There's a massive amount of data to help train the AI in our industry. Use it to help companies automate grading, drainage analysis, and drainage reports (for example) and that would revolutionize some of the most time intensive workflows for a massive user base in the Civil Infrastructure space.   Allow users to train the AI to their custom workflows/styles/standards/company policies. The principles and practices of Civil Engineering and Land Surveying have not changed that much in hundreds of years, just the technology that produces their designs, analysis, and data has changed. When selecting grading layer, why don't you go directly to Layer selection (blue arrow) instead of taking the long way through Set grading layers and Object layer (read arrows)? The same applies to layer selection when creating feature lines, and setting the layer for the surface when creating a grading.     Show More

In the image below you can see the significant impact of changing from 0/100 to 1/100 on the 'Smooth Surface' slider in GO. It would be great to have a finer degree of control - achieving a degree of smoothing but not jumping from 50 to 83m3 in one increment. To put it into perspective changing from 1/100 to 2/100 only leads to 93m3.      This could also just involve allowing decimals in the Objective Weights - but I suspect the 'curve' might also need adjusting.   Thanks,   Martin Powell Show More
