Running Autocad Lt on Windows XP

Hi all,

This is my first post......

I own and run a small joinery company, just me, in the UK.

I use Autocad Lt 2016 on a windows 10 computer for my main office tasks, producing drawings for customers and then using the drawings to manufacture the products.

However, in 2001 i purchased a AXYZ Millenium CNC Router which is still a valuable piece of workshop kit for manufacturing my products. The CNC software will only run windows XP and no higher on a PC in my workshop, both workshop and office PC's use my Nas Drive as a mapped drive so no files on any PC,s and both need Autocad Lt installed.

Having just purchased a stand alone license i would like to install Autocad Lt 2013 as my second download on the windows XP PC in the workshop, any advice on doing this would be welcome.

Regards,

Steve.

XP is a dead OS and LT2013 is retired with no chance available for you to 'get it' sadly.

There are many ways Microsoft makes Win10 capable of running most XP software, you might try these options first. Explore the topic in these thread here https://www.google.com/webhp?sourceid=chrome-instant&ion=1&espv=2&ie=UTF-8#q=run%20xp%20software%20o...

Don't you still have an older version of Autocad licence on the xp computer, (as far as I know buying a newer version doesn't stop you using the old one - unless it's an update!!), how have you been running the cnc before? I would keep the old version just for the cnc and save any new drawings created in 2016 version back to a format that can be read in the old software.

AutoCAD LT 2013 is still available on the Virtual Agent if you need to download it, but Dean is right about XP being retired.  You should still be able to run AutoCAD LT 2013 on a Windows 7 machine though.  AutoCAD 2016 still uses the DWG 2013 format, so compatibilty should not be an issue there.

I would recommend that you try downloading your product using the virtual assistant by following the directions here:

I wondered if the OP has a license for LT2013 or not: if yes, they will be able to take advantae of your tip fully.

True boss.  It's not exactly something one would be able to just get their hands on without already owning it or having Subscription.  But even Subscription doesn't allow concurrent use on a 2nd computer if there is only 1 seat.  Hmm...

Thanks for your reply, i have a maintenance subscription with my recently purchased Autocad Lt, does this not allow me to install a second older version (2013) on another machine and also if i wanted too, apply for a home use download as well?

Subscription allows you to install 2013 so long as you do not use it concurrently (simultaneously) with your 2016. But you can alternate between them or use one on your laptop or home, for example.

Thanks again, so can i install it on the XP machine, it has the system requirements needed. Idealy i would like to download the software using the windows 10 PC and then install it on the XP (workshop PC).

Would i be able to download and save it to my Nas Drive ready to install on the XP machine?

I don't see why not. I would then recommend copying the install file from
the NAS to the local machine.

So using the Virtual Agent method i would be able to save it straight to the Nas Drive?

Yes. The install file can be saved anywhere but you will still want to copy
and install it on the local machine.
