Noticed several ideas here about clone and duplicate options, but would like to take this a bit further.
creating drawings for parts , assemblies normally links to model objects that link to model roles. So if basic drawing is created of the element from the model, then drawing is edited to suitable colours, and presentation configurations, also labelling and dimensioning of the assembly, part.
These elements then form the basis of the style typically used to be the standard reference, the points used for dimensions could be extracted, the object types labelled could be identified. With all these references the system could then extract this data and us it to create a style in the drawing style manager, thus storing that configuration. With this stored in the DSM, this style could then be used to link to defined drawing process, that would use correct prototype and file naming rules etc.
in test mode of the style, allow some form of dimension identification against the rules created, so it can be tested and altered, like a flag that can be turned on for testing. Same for label types as well. This would show as a series of pop up labels,(tool tip) or be turned on all the time whilst in developer mode.
The process could also work for arrangements drawings, so taking basic plans and elevations, the user can quickly create a base set of styles , this would also help with the control of dimension and label rules within GA's
With these options in place, users could create basic drawing styles sets based upon there personal requirements, with out needing an in depth understanding of the DSM.
