I'm currently on an ASUS Windows 7 with an AMD Athlon II Dual-Core M320 2.1GHz processor.
Please help me to solve this probleme

Solved! Go to Solution.
You might consider installing the Visual C++ 2005 prerequite separately first by downloading it from Microsoft.
I have had a similar problem which I discussed in another thread (see Installing Maya (ERROR = 1603) Windows 7). Unfortunately I have been attempting to install on a Windows 7 PC for over a month now and have not found a solution yet. The Autodesk support rep has offered some suggestions but none have resolved the issue. I can tell you that in my case, simply installing the prerequisites, upgrading the prerequisites, or un-installing and re-installing the prerequisites did not work. I am extremely frustrated with this problem. Have spent numerous eveings and countless hours trying to resolve. My opinion is this might be a Version 2011 installation bug related to some Windows 7 systems. I had installed Civil 3D 2010 on this same PC without a problem. I have installed many programs on this PC without any difficulties. In my case the installation routine aborts when trying to install Visual C++ 2008 Redistributable (x86) regardless of whether it is already there or not installed. It should not be this difficult to install a program. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.
Typically the 1603 error has several potential solutions. I am a fan of going straight to the Diagnostic Startup mode as it covers several causes with one stone:
1. Microsoft Installer documentation lists that the 1603 indicates a resource needed by the installer is in use by another process. Often a reboot will stop this. Quitting background applications during the installation of an application is a best practice.
2. Bad media, dirty lens, bad optical drive or bad optical drive drivers can all cause this. If you downloaded the 2010 or 2011 product and it extracted to the C:\Autodesk (or your designated) folder. This should not be the case. You can restart the installer from the Setup.exe without need to re-extract the installer from the download. If you are trying to install from the DVD copy the contents to a temp folder on the local hard drive. If there are several disks start with the first disk then copy additional disks, in order, into the same location and overwrite any files if asked.
3. Permissions are sometimes associated with this error. For Windows Vista and Windows 7 try disabling UAC. Make sure you are a Local Administrator. Sometimes a Domain Admin needs to be added to the local Administrators group. Right-clicking the setup.exe and choosing to Run as Administrator may be necessary as well.
I have disabled UAC and run as an administrator and I still get the 1603 error. I installed Visual C++ 2008 redist SP1 from MS and that works fine. However the ACAD install does not see that this is installed and still tries to install its version of the redist and it fails with 1603.
I solved this issue. If you have Arc GIS 9.3.1 installed on a windows 7 Machine it can reach the registry size limit. ACAD 2011 will not be able to install passed Visual C++ redist. Set your registry size limit to infinite and reboot.
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Control
Key: RegistrySizeLimit
Type: REG_DWORD
Value: 0xffffff (4294967295)
Hope this helps.
I had placed a copy of the install dvd on my HD and ran setup from HD. This gave me a 1603 error and i could not install 2011 on my windows 7 pro OS. I retried by installing directly from dvd in stead of HD copy and this worked like a charm.
Not to redig up this thread, but I am also having this problem, except with Maya 2011.
I've tried ALL of the suggestions above and nothing worked.
Am I doomed to never use Maya on this computer forever??? =(
Beautiful! I had the same issue and had ArcGIS 9.3.1 on my computer, altering the registry worked for me too. Thanks for posting, it really helped.
I had a similar problem.
I uninstalled all my Microsoft Visual C++ versions. Restarted my PC, so I installed vc_red.msi alone from the AutoCad DVD.
then I tried to install AutoCad again and it passed through this requirement. And everything is working fine now.
Hope it helps
Installation problems may be resolved using the Microsoft Installer Clean Up Utility. For more information on this program, please my forum post here:

Download it direct from Microsoft instead of letting the prerequisite installer do it.
Hey i was wondering if you solver the Visual c++ problem when installing Autocad or revit 2011 on windows7, when i try install one of the programs it begins to install and fails on the first component which is the microsoft c++ redestributable 2005 and then it just stops installation. i have been trying to install for weeks but nothing works i dont understand it installed straight away on my older windows xp desktop but it cant on my faster and new win 7 one, but i cant use the xp one beacuse its too slow, is there anyway you can help?
thanks
Regards
Daniel
I am not sure but all the Microsoft Visual C++ versions are parts of other programs. (I hope newer versions are compatible for the other programs) so if these programs are running, modifications and / or installations will result errors.
Try starting windows in safe mode – so that only the basic program will be running— uninstall all the other Microsoft Visual C++ versions. Restart the computer and try again.
I am sure this will work. I also recommend you install the other versions back after installing AutoCad. Just to make sure you won’t have problems with other programs.
Hope it works

Hi everyone,
I have a similar problem with the installation of Maya It fails when it tries to install the visual 2005 redistributable package.
- I uninstalled all the Visual C++ versions (I had a 2008)
- I installed the SP1 package before
- I installed Maya... it failed.....
What can I do next?
Hi,
One test you can try to is install VC++ 2005 directly from the source discs. Search for "vcredist*.exe". Double-click the installer file to run it.
I just helped a customer who could not install VC++ 2008SP1. The VC installer would start up, then immediately exit. It turned out a virus on his system was shutting down the VC++ 2008 SP1 runtime installer. After removing the virus and repairing Windows 7, he was able to install VC++ 2008 SP1. After that, installing AutoCAD was not a problem.
