It is good to connect other document systems with Vault. URL strings can be a system to give the result from a search based on parameters..   I want to create a url with two specific parameters (vault attributes) so i can give it on the Vault WebClient so he give's me a few results with the right files.   grts, Wim     Show More

I recently saw a demo of M-Files. I wanted to hate it, being a Vault proponent. But it's really good, they have nailed what data management for the end user should be like.    Data Standard goes some way towards improving that for CAD users, and frankly could be molded to very closely match the M-Files setup at the front end. But Vault is lacking some of the back end M-Files has, since it uses a different approach. Any way, what set it apart most clearly from Vault was a form based UI everytime an Office user created a new document. It asked a series of questions and requested input of values into properties before the user could start to build their new document.   There were two approaches; Create a new file using M-Files within Word, or Save a normal Word file to the M-FIles drive in My Computer.    Either way the M-Files form appears.    This is almost identical to the way Data Standard works in AutoCAD and Inventor. It would be really good to see this functionality extended into Office as part of Vault Office, Workgroup & Professional. Then non-CAD users can be sold Vault solutions instead of needing to purchase an additional SQL based document management system for the rest of the company.   Often management can relate to needing a document management system, but fail to understand or balk at the costs associated with getting one for their Design / Engineering departments. This type of functionality would be a door opener for increasing the number of companies moving from Vault Basic to WG / Pro or even buying it from the outset. Show More

Hi, Our remote users of "Thin Client" (web access interface) of the Vault would like to be able to print (and/or extract to Excel) a list documents from the content of specific folder or a search result.  Unfortunately, this option is not available, as the Thin Client only offers to users the print option for ONE specific document at a time.   Show More

UDP (User Defined Properties) are great features.   If they are mapped to a file property it is not an issue here.   But if they are free-form, users need to be able to edit and add within the Thin Cient or Web Client.   UDPs should be completely editable online, if the users have access to add/edit files.     Show More

It is currently possible to enter multiline comments onto a File or Folder datasheet via VDS, when viewed in the thin client these comments are spread along a single row of text. It would be good to see the text as it was entered, especially when viewing tabular style data. Show More

There is no way to view or search folder properties in VaultOffice or Vault-WebClient. This should be possible in future releases. Show More

When viewing documents (word, excel, and other types of non-cad data)  in Vault Thin Client, explorer and other internet browsers are downloading the documents from the Vault to the local folder. In environment where every documents is controlled, there should be no local copies of the controlled documents. It would be nice if the Vault Thin Client come with ability to render office document and display them directly in the browser. This would preclude the necessity to download those files. Autodesk has the technology to do this as it is done in the Autodesk cloud solutions. So it would be nice it this would be implemented her as well. Show More

I suggest the ability to create a VR Viewer for DWF and DWFX files, as an addition to Design Review (would be the best choice, could be a paid Pro version) or an additional product. The Idea of VR for these filetypes is not a "Bling Bling" VR with a lot of material and lightning stuff, it should be a quick and performant way to give the engineer the ability to walk in his creation, without having to import it to MAX etc., simple VR for engineers to check and visualize designs.   Features should be:   - quick in VR without any preparation - selectable views - measure inside VR - annotate in VR and save annotation in DWF - meta data of parts and assemblies displayable in VR   This could be a game changer on the market, anyone who can publish DWF would have the ability to easy use VR in the design process. Nearly any Autodesk Design Product can publish DWF, you would even be able to choose your DWF Preview from Vault and WALK IN, company wide. Show More

The thin client only has 3 options for getting the drawing out of the thin client: Print snapshot- Only prints one page (not sure how anyone thought this was a good idea) Download DXF Download Visualisation (DWF) Rather than relying on a seperate job processor and system to create an control the revisioning of pdf's allow full drawing pdf creation from the vault thin client. This will reduce the amount of data being stored and setup complexity to have pdfs as the created pdf will be the most up to date revision. It will also allow the printing of all drawing pages by users who do not have access to dxf and DWF readers. Show More
