View Reference Tag Rotation

View Reference Tag Rotation

Currently if we rotate the view in a sheet clockwise the view tag also rotate with the drawing. Most of the time we need to keep fix orientation for the view tag, Therefore it would be really helpful if we can manage the view tag independently and it does not follow the view rotation on sheet.

As the title says this would be EXTREMELY useuful, sometimes a plan needs rotated to fit on a sheet and I feel that you should be able to rotate the title name of the sheet according to personal preference.

I'm not sure what you mean.

If you want to rotate the View and View Title, rotate it on the sheet.

If you want to rotate the objects in the view, which is on a sheet, then rotate the View Crop object, and leave the viewport and title alone.

@craigh_bim yes, you can do it that way but it's a pain. Sometimes I just want to rotate a bunch of views on a sheet without having to go through this onerous extra step.

I totally agree on this one. It also applies on grid heads that rotate as well, although they should be aligned horizontally.

I realize that there are a few work-arounds for this already but I feel like this should be as simple as selecting the view title and being able to tap the space bar to rotate. Or even having a drop down in the options bar to rotate clockwise or counter clockwise in the options bar (similar to selecting a View on a sheet).

It seems kind of counter intuitive to have to create a scope box or a custom view title in order to rotate a view title on a sheet.

When placing a view on a sheet and then rotating the view 90 deg it automatically orientates the view heading. I have had to create a special view heading at 90 deg so when I place  a view at 90 deg I can use this heading and it will be in the correct orientation like a regular view heading. The orientation of the view heading should be an instance parameter so that you can rotate as per your requirement

This is sort of do-able by not using the Rotation on Sheet command, but rather by activating the view and turning on the Crop Region and grabbing the crop region boundary and rotating that.  The view title will remain in place, but the view will rotate (opposite of the direction you turn it btw) within the view.

I have voted for this idea though, because it would definitely be nice to not have to do that and just be able to use the Rotation on Sheet option.

Or at least give us the option to rotate them or not.

@yana_vi sounds like this idea: When rotating sheet allow titles (viewports) to stay horizontal - Autodesk Community

If feel same ask @kimberly_fuhrman-jones to combine.

Note: there is a comment by @Ric_Weber about rotating the crop region boundary (see link for full description). hopefully that will resolve.

Rotating the view is nice, but it also rotates the viewport title on the sheet. it would be nice if the "rotation on sheet" parameter had an option that left the viewport title in a readable orientation, without having to rotate the view another way, ie project north/ true north.
