Revit handrail baluster in-fill

Revit handrail baluster in-fill

Allow for a "baluster" "Infill" panel type where the panel is allowed to stretch to fit In Lieu Of repeating segments to fill.

Would be great for variable balusters in general. - specify spacing adjust ILO having to specify new family.

I’m still waiting that some day this happens. I think that railings in Revit are forgot for the development. They locked it in the closet and lost the key.

It would be great to have the same parameters that curtains walls panels already have but for balusters panels. I wish to define maximum length, or minimum length. This is crucial for stairs with glass panels on railings. That would be awesome.

Curtain wall Mullions have a lot of parameters useful to balusters / pickets: Maximum spacing, minimun spacing, fixed distance, fixed number and the ability to ajust a justification and offset for each wall (or each railing segment).

Beam Systems have Clear Spacing, which would allow adjusting the open spaces to local regulations.

When I need to create shopdraings for those, or create a precise 3D model I have to model one Railing intance per segment and assign a diferent Type of railing per segment to get the desired results; that if the existing raililing pattern options (Justify or Exess Length Fill options) do not work good enough for the design intend in all the segment of the railing at once (which is not very common to happen, if one is designing adjusted to reality and with hight level of detail).

The worst case is when the railings include glass panels: It would be ideal to have a parameter that allows adjusting the panels (balusters used as panels) to fit it lenght to the clear spaces between posts, just like curtain wall Panels do; or that Revit select automaticalle the panel/baluster type with the closest length size to fill the clear spaces, of a given panel/baluster family. That situation in railings with glass panels is annoying even in the simplest and most basic railing modeling.

Would be great if Revit have those options for railings, this will be enough to model nearly 100% of the railing without complain and excess of time spent.

To ease the need to create a baluster type for every different baluster panel width, it would be perfect if the baluster panel width and/or height could be driven by an instance parameter. This would allow us to use one single family type for different widths within the same railing system.
