Modern UI: Properties

Modern UI: Properties

I really like modern interfaces based on WPF, especially in Microsoft Blend. I really hope Revit will also get absolutely New modern UI in near future. Here are some of my ideas on this matter. The main idea is to use colours for property state indexes and transitions between property tables within a single window.

This idea has already been accepted and is well along.

It's one part of this Idea:

I would suggest joining the  beta program if you'd like to comment on the direction they are going.

@dplumb_BWBR Thanks for the answer and invitation! I have access to the beta-program a long time and I had sent this request last year.

I hope that any new property palette interface anticipates the (potential) impact of feature developments that relate to popular Revit ideas

- predetermined dropdown as a parameter

- making a clear distinction between a dropdown parameter (=limited list) and a normal text parameter with suggestion list

- making clear that parameter limitations are in effect (perhaps with sliders etc)

- provide an option to hide parameters / hide parameters based on value of other parameter

- sort project parameters

- show 'varies' for multiple values

- better input fields (especially text fields), it would be helpful if the text field would 'grow' on selection (just like some text fields in the material editor)

- user defined grouping

- hiding out of the box parameters

I can't say I'm a huge fan of squeezing the V/G override dialog into the properties palette. Some dialogs would be better served by moving it there, but some just require more space or a very specific layout.
