Better Functionality for Legends!!

1.  Ability to Tag Legend Components

2.  Ability to rotate Legend Components

3.  Option for "Floor Plan View" for Floors, Ceilings, etc.

4. Ability to Override Graphics, apply Filters, etc to Legend Components

Work arounds for these issues are too many, and leave too much room for error.  A legend should be representative of the items in your model.  It should have as much functionality as your floor plans do because it is meant to be a visual guide of the items in said floor plan.  MUST HAVE FULL FUNCTIONALITY!

What do we think is more "BIM":

1. Using lines and filled regions instead of families, tags, dimensions, etc in a legend view, or...
2. Modeling everything "live," but in a separate workset, phase, and/or design option so we can get full access to parameters, tags, and dimensions, and then filter schedules so the live elements don't show up or add to the totals?

Like that's the state of legend views in Revit 2026. To be clear, option 2 is a bad and often confusing workaround to the collection of bugs and missing features known as legend views. I could see recommending someone this type of view in say 2012 when we were still somewhat hopeful that fixes were going to be in the next release, but it would be foolish to use legends today for anything but text notes. Not even in the roadmap, just completely abandoned.
