More importantly, all tags with that option should actually rotate with component.  Many currently do not, even with that option selected.

Offset tags and Spool tags will not rotate with the items in Revit 2017.1 even when the family is set to “Rotate with component”

This causes layout drawing and spooling issues.

Autodesk has confirmed this is an issue and suggested an Ideas to get it resolved.

probably wished many times before, but it is simply too dreadfull...

just allow all tags to be oriented by the model.

It is absolutely iridiculous that revit is not capable of doing this

Can you explain your idea visually, I don't understand what you mean.

hi,

for example:

tag a structural beam....the tag can be aligned horizontally, vertically and by model

now tag a wall, or a structural column etc. (most of the tags, sadly) there you can only choose between horizontally and vertically...the "by model" option is completely missing in most of the tags unfortunately

the "idea" (not really an idea but a basic feature) is to allow every tag to be aligned to the model geometrie

I think it would be a nice addition to be able to use the "Rotate with component" option and tie it to a parameter. Instance would be best, but Type would even work. Either would be better than what we currently have to work with.

I just created an idea for that option. If this link doesn't work, just look for one named "Allow tags rotate with component as an instance". (For some reason my links never work when I copy/paste them from the Idea page).

This idea has been created on the behalf of an user.

The idea would be to enable to possibility to annotate elements by being able to choose text orientation.

Currently, when beams or walls for instance are inclined (not strictly vertical or horizontal, for instance +45° or -45°) text is oriented depending on the element’s orientation (assuming that the option “Rotate with component” has been activated in the family parameters).

The orientation of the text is then different.

What is expected is enabling the possibility to select text orientation so the user can choose to have a consistent text orientation in the sheets he / she creates.

Room tags can be set to Vertical, Horizontal and Model.

If set to model, the tag can be rotated to any rotation.

Door and Window tags can only be set to Vertical or Horizontal, there is no Model option.

This is inconsistent, and you rotate the tag to a non vertical or horizontal position you have to use a fudge work around.

Lets get some consistency here and allow all tags to have the 'Model' option.

right now the structural connections tags don't rotate with the element. the parameter is available but the tag is not rotating with the element.

With Revit 2021, the "Rotate with component" checkbox in families now works for many categories, including Structural Foundation Tags, however, it only works for tagging Isolated Foundations, not Wall Foundations.  Please make Structural Foundation Tags rotate with component for Wall Foundations too.

Generic Models too.
