window tags

Is there any way to get Revit window tags to behave like the door tags? The door tags seem to be instance parameters while the window tags are type parameters. I would like to use separate numbers for each window even though they are the same type. This would allow me to specify header required for each window in the schedule. I understand that I could edit the window families and save them as different files but this is time consuming. Is there an easier way?

You should be able to tag from the instance parameter mark or the type parameter type mark.

There are two window tags out of the box from Revit that will tag both of these...

Window Tag - Number will give you the instance parameter mark

Window Tag will give you the type parameter type mark.

I have attached an image to show this.

Is the type mark 23 the instance parameter in your attachment? I have never seen the window "type properties." How is it accessed?

No the 23 is a type parameter. If you look at the dialog box on the left - on the right side under the type selector there is 'Edit Type' - this opens up the type parameters of the window family. In the instance parameters the Mark is 8, in the type parameters the Type Mark is 23. Just about everything in Revit had type parameters and you get to them the same way - edit type. LD
