How to Print to Vector

I'm trying to print PDFs in Revit and I want them all to use vector processing, but Revit comes up with a notification that it will print in raster instead because of the shading I have in the views. Everywhere online I see that this is Revit's preset function and I can't figure out how to force it to use vector processing. All the other computers in my office do vector processing just fine even with the shadows on in the views. Do I need some sort of update? What am I not understanding?

"Revit will use raster printing because this view uses shading, shadows, point clouds, sketchy lines, depth cueing, or gradients.
To use vector printing, use the View Control bar at the bottom left of the view window to turn off these options."

Revit doesn't do that.

Have you verified that the PDFs are actually in vector format? They could have just turned off the warning and the PDFs are still raster.

In the options for printing I always have vector selected. I understand that the notification which pops up says that the PDF will print in raster because of the shading I have in the view, but then why are all my coworkers able to print in vector with the same settings and view graphics? What confuses me is that it works fine for everyone else. If Revit just doesn't do it, then why is it doing it? Does that make sense?

The message says that going to the View Control Bar to change the settings will allow me to print in vector, but that's not what I want. I want to print with shadows in vector. I just have a hard time believing that Revit won't do it if I see it done every day.

This is the part I'm doubting. Just because they aren't' getting the warning, doesn't mean it's not printing to raster. They may have told the warning to not show again.

I'll ask again. Have you actually verified that the PDFs are in vector format?

Here is an example of what I'm talking about. The shadows and all lines are clear even when you zoom in. This is the quality of all the plans that I see coming from the other computers. Maybe I'm not understanding correctly, but this is vector, no?

So, you have neither seen someone actually making the PDFs, nor have you verified that they are actually vector. I think you are working off of bad assumptions.

Share the PDF to end any doubt.

Okay, we're getting down to the root of the problem and this has been very helpful so far! Okay, I think you're right, it's just a high quality raster. So then why are my PDFs coming out like this even if my quality setting is set to high?

You might be getting somewhere but I'm at a loss here. Those images look like they are from the same model.

How are you printing them?

Same view?

Same scale?

Could you post both PDFs so we can help you better?

Keep the vector button checked then Revit will only print sheets with shading etc to raster then the rest to vector.

What printer (pdf) are you using. Looks like the DPI setting on the printer itself might be to low. try 600 dpi ...

Set the Raster Quality under Revit's Export to PDF to Presentation.
