When editing in component mode (vertex edge or face) the pivot will randomly get stuck and will stop updating, This usually happens after changing the pivot with the d key. I have to restart Maya to get to to recenter again. This happened even in between objects. See the below screen shots.
Initial selection
After moving faces
Switching to a different object
Using d again only temporarily moves the pivot. It'll snap back once any edit is done. Anyone know if this is some sort of setting I have turned on or something? This is Maya 2018 update 3.

Hi @gallapoo and welcome to the community!
I haven't seen this issue before and I'm not able to reproduce it.
One thing you could try is deleting history and/or freezing transformation on the object and see if the pivot is still being moved.
Let me know if anything changes!

I do that pretty much constantly. It doesn't seem to change the behavior. It seems to happen more likely when selecting faces on objects that have been previously merged. A restart of the program is the only thing that fixes it.
Hi @gallapoo
Hmm ok. Do you have steps to reproduce this by chance?
Also, what GPU are you using and are the drivers up to date?
Steps to update your drivers can be found here!

Select a face, edge, or vertex.
Adjust the pivot with D (snapping doesn't not effect this)
Move, rotate, etc and the pivot snaps back to where it was moved.
I can still change the pivot with the D key and the new pivot stays. I have noticed something else strange. When this happens the manipulator in object mode moves off the object.as it transforms.
The below shows what's going on a bit better.
That may be a known regression with the version you are running. Can you instal the latest version and report back if it is still occurring?
Hi!
It looks like you have Pin Component Pivot enabled.
Just uncheck this feature in Tool Settings or use Hotbox.
This was exactly it. I figured it was too consistent to be a bug. I don't know why it caused the manipulation handle to behave like that though.
Thanks!
I'm having this issue, too. I knew it was Pin Component Pivot, and I knew where to turn it off, however- it keeps resetting. As in, I'll turn off Pin Component Pivot, and that specific toggle for "Pin Component Pivot" gets reset, so the pivot will suddenly behaved as pinned.
Any thoughts?
Hi
I have recently updated my MayaLT to 2019 and started having the same issue. Whenever I edit the pivot position for a component (e.g. edge), all other components (sometimes even for other objects in the scene) will have their pivot stuck to that position.
Like others suggested, this was fixed by unticking the "pin component pivot" which somehow was activated.
Thanks again

Hi!
Still available here in Maya 2019.1 in Tool Settings for every transform tool:
Move Settings > Pin Component Pivot
Rotate Settings > Pin Component Pivot
Scale Settings > Pin Component Pivot
You saved my life right now. I don't even know how/when I pinned it! This happened to me in the UV map once where I pinned something. Thanks!
