I don't understand what this is from... But on a fresh install. Brand new template, I have two versions of what looks to be the same thing... All the way down to the layers having 2 versions.

Example: (also see attached)

"Object Defaults (ANSI)"

"ObjectDefaults(ANSI)"

(name differences are with spaces and versions without spaces)

Layer: "Work Point (ANSI)"

Layer: "Work Point(ANSI)"

etc etc etc...there's a lot of these similar things...

On the layer side... The difference seems to be color instead of black, being a dark dark blue ish purple and scale by line weight I think...

Anyways my question is... what is this? why is there 2 versions? Is this Autodesk accidentally leaving in an old copy by accident? Or does it have a purpose? (It's confusing as heck)

My version is  Inventor 2019 I think the version before 2019.4.4... (can't find the help>about product button)

Inventor: Model States is not a replacement for iParts / iAssemblies. It does not have all the same features yet and does not communicate well with our large currently in use libraries. 😞 https://forums.autodesk.com/t5/inventor-ideas/model-state-support-tabulated-parts-list/idc-p/11360616

Hi,

These are not completely the same since the displayname is different!

Maybe you could take a look if the list is only Local or Library styles

Seems that the local styles have been edit and there is a diffrence.

You could take a closer look with the LibraryTools in the inventor sofwere folder.

Herewith you can compare what the difference is.

Using the Style Library Manager. I don't see them.

Plus I worked on it and deleted them so they wouldn't confuse my co-workers.... But it sounds like you're saying that these styles are not pre-installed with inventor... am I correct?

I think they are local and made locally now...

Ignore my OP question... I already cleaned up the mess mostly.

Again I'm now assuming it's old from someone else putting it in.

I do have a question though... In the Autodesk Inventor Style Library Manager...

I can see the style I made for our department... But... There's all these extra styles that don't show up in my template.idw document... Can I safely delete those?

These are not migrated styles!

If you can delete depends on your needs.

What does that mean?

(sorry for the newbie questions. But I don't want to assume the wrong thing.)

Hi,

Have you switched/upgraded to a newer version of inventor lately?

Then you need to update also the libraries to the newer version of inventor.

This is called migrate.

This comes from the help file:

Comparing Styles Between Definitions

If a style exists in both Style Libraries and is an exact name value match (that is, Equal), then the text in the style lists has a normal font display.

If a style exists in both Style Libraries, is an exact name match, and is not a value match (that is, Not Equal), then the text for this style name displays as bold, underlined, and red.

If a style only exists in one Style Library (that is, is Unique), then the text for this style name displays as bold, underline, and blue.

Is this the case for you?

The red items were not red items before. I think that happen b/c I deleted them in my Styles.

Technically everything below the CCS Style Library (blue file) is all stuff I don't need or want for my drafters.

What I don't understand is why are they even listed? My template.idw doesn't even list them. I've use the save style button. But the styles still exist in the manager.

You need to purge them from the library, if possible.
