Adding content center structural shapes - Bill of materials

Good day,

I'm going to add extra structural shapes in Inventor for work.

As a test I started with a simple iPart, created a square tube with parameters length, width, height and thickness.

After that I added about 50 different profiles in excel, published the shape with the structural shape publisher.

Then I created an assembly using a configuration of the new family I added, even that works perfectly.

Where I bumb into a problem is the part list. In the column length, the part list shows the height of the profile, instead of the length. 

See screencast for reference, it should show 2x 500mm and 2x 200mm but shows 2x 20mm, 1x 20mm and 1x 20mm for some reason. 

I hope someone can fix this for me.

select Content Center Button

check the Content Center You are using.

Export this to Desktop CC

and upload the idcl file that has been exported.

I have investigated the issue.

The tables are not formatted correctly on all fronts!

Seems that the I-parts are uploaded very simple without doing anything to handle it in Content Center.

Please become familiar with Content Center and behavior and settings before doing anything in Content Center!

The first things I saw and need to be changed are:

Member Column:

Part Number Column:

File name Column:

I will investigate further because the parameter mapping is also not done correctly, and is also related to the issue.

Width height and Thickness:

Do the following for the parameters Width height and Thickness:

Afterwards it works.

Thanks for the help. I've done some changes you suggested.

It seems to almost do what I want.

I want the part number to end with "- length" so in bill of materials it groups members with the same lenght.

However using "- "&{ length}  just uses the 100mm.

Also G_L still doesnt seem to map to length, it either maps to width or height and I cant figure out why.

Creating rectangle 1600x800mm frame of profile 40x40x4mm gives the part list as shown in "Example test.png"

I want the part number to be Aluminium gelijkzijdige koker 40x40x4mm - 1600mm (or 800mm for the other lenght)
Quantity: 2 (in this case 2 lenghts of 1600mm and 2 of 800mm)
Length linked to the 1600mm and 800mm

Somehow Thickness does seem to link correctly.

Length in the part list is linked to G_L

I feel like I changed everything you said, but length still doesnt seem to update.

Part numbers just seem to get 100mm now, not updated and split in 1600mm and 800mm.

Also, length table seems empty

Maybe its this:

Column properties of length, the mapping to custom.length was gone after I updated parameter mapping in family properties

Problem still isn't fixed. 

After all these adjustments the G_L still doesn't give the length in the part list.

Also the part number still shows 100mm instead of 800mm and 1600mm.

In family properties > Template Parameters

I set width to width and thickness to thickness, click apply and ok.

then if I open the template parameters again immediately, the width and thickness are gone

remove all values marked in red

then the length should appear automatically

the other need to be defined new after delete

and it should look like:

Hi,

Please use my inventor 2018 .idcl file.

Because on your side some crucial steps are missing.

Maybe some training is very useful, because if the CC tables are to be migrated or handled in future you must be very careful with also little mistakes.

After changing the family properties as shown in the attachment (setting lenght to lenght) it seems to work exacly as I want.

Change this for the length and you are ready.

This makes it possible to use every length.....
