You know, there was a tool in Environments ribbon of Inventor-Professional to use for sustainability analysis, "Eco Material Advisor ( to its free module). In my design courses it was a valuable item in the content. But, I have learned that Inventor-Version 2021 will not provide that valuable tool....I hope Autodesk and the other company, which markets Eco Material Advisor, (Granta Design) can come to an agreement and we can use that valuable software again.   Best Regards, Assoc. In my line of work we use a lot of drivelines to transfer power from one place to another. These assemblies are very difficult to create because of all the constraints required to make an assembly. Inventor just does not like to do it. Typically the input to output shafts vary up to 5 degrees.  Any more and the u-joints don’t like it. If Autodesk really wanted to challenge the programmers the could create some sort of u-joint constraint. The ultimate challenge would be to make the shafts rotate without flying apart of just freezing up.   Show More

It would be helpful to have a "retrieve dimensions" option for .ipt annotations to retrieve tolerances from sketch dimensions.   It would also be helpful to associate the .idw dimension tolerance to the .ipt dimension tolerance in away that allows the .ipt tolerance to be edited from the .idw.  Currently, if the .idw tolerance is edited after retrieving part dimensions, the link between the .ipt and .idw dimension tolerance is broken.  Show More

Sometimes iLogic and Add-ins are used to drive certain Parameters, such as for a configurator. In order to do this, they need to be able to reliably access those parameters using their names. This can easily get broken if a user changes the name of a parameter, not knowing it will break the configurator.   Therefore, please provide a way for iLogic/the API to make the name of a parameter read-only. This could perhaps be done by adding renaming as a DisabledActionType for Parameters. We often need know the Quantity or Item # of a component, and possibly insert it into a drawing note. However, these properties don't exist within the component itself. They only exist in the context of a parent assembly, so they aren't available in the same places that ordinary iProperties are. However, they are still vital pieces of information about the component. So, I would like to be able to view or insert the "assembly-contextual" properties of a component in the same places I can view or insert its ordinary iProperties.   For example: In the iProperties dialog, add a "Contextual" tab, where I can specify a parent assembly and look up the Quantity or Item # of my component in that parent assembly. In the Text Editor in a drawing, where we can insert iProperties, add a "Contextual" category, where I can specify a parent assembly and insert the Quantity or Item # of my component into the text field. In the API/iLogic, add a "ContextualProperties" property to Parts and Assemblies, so I can say something like, "myQuantity = myPart.ContextualProperties(parentAssemblyFilePath).Quantity"   In this way, we could easily view or insert these "assembly-contextual properties" just like we can normal iProperties. I found that if i demote Level of detail parts, inventor makes a assembly that places al parts in master level of detail.    This kills the lightweigt bennefits.    Pleas keep the substitute level of details. Show More

Our company's long term strategy is to move 100% from AutoCAD to Inventor. We are on a very good way, still there are situations where designers tend to use AutoCAD. One is the creation of mounting instructions, where we add a sheet to the packaging bag where the content of the bag is visualised as side or isometric view.   If we do this in Inventor by placing the parts as view on the drawing, we will have items in Vault later on with hundreds of drawings for some bolt, because it is consumed by the drawing. For these cases if would be nice to have a function like "break link", where we get a simple view, which is not connected to the view anymore.    All the alternatives like a "sketched symbol" library will require much inital effort. We don´t work with Vault, so when we copy assemblies to create alternative versions of our furniture, we (as beginners in Inventor) want to make sure that we are working on the right files.
