I am trying to re-install Revit 2016 and the installation wizard says that everything is already installed. However when I search my files on my computer for Revit there are no files that exist. I dont know what to do to fix this issue. I need to install Revit 2016.

Im Now getting two error messages. One says "The system cannot open the device or file specified." And then when the install box pops up and I click on install I'm getting this message. "The system cannot find the path specified. C:\Users\austin\AppData\Local\Temp\_AIEA71.tmp\x64\RVT\RVT.msi

When I click okay on that message it closes out the installer. I need help!

Hi @Anonymous,

Welcome to the community!

Sorry to hear about the issue. Could you first try to repair the install using the Microsoft FixIT tool? If this does not work then perform a clean uninstall to delete the Temp files. Next disable your antivirus and install from the virtual agent.

Matthew is right.  Disable your antivirus if you get the .msi error.  This is a known issue especially if you have Trend Micro.

To Diagnose and Fix installation problems automatically, please see the new Microsoft tool for this here:

http://support.microsoft.com/mats/Program_Install_and_Uninstall

For more information on the Autodesk KB Support article concerning the clean uninstall of Autodesk products, see this link:

http://knowledge.autodesk.com/customer-service/installation-activation-licensing/get-ready/remove-pr...

For all other installation problems carefully consider using the Microsoft Installer Clean Up Utility at your own risk. For more information on this program, please thoroughly read my forum post here:

http://forums.autodesk.com/t5/Installation-Licensing/Microsoft-Installer-Clean-Up-Utility-for-Add-Re...

This last one is the nuclear option that will almost certainly result in a 1406 error on next install. But it can also be corrected, as my link shows.

Did you try the MSICUU2 program? It is vicious.
