Welcome to the community..

In the past you went to  theC:\Programdata\Autodesk\ADLM directory and deleted bot the CascadeInfo.cas and ProductInformation.pit.  Uninstalled your software and resinstalled to correct this issue.  I'm not sure if that still the case for the new versions but that's how it was resolved in the past.  @TravisNave any other thoughts?

As a reminder, the C:\Progamdata is a hidden folder and you will have to change your viewing options if showing hidden files and folders is turned off.

I have tried this, even going so far as to completely remove 3DS Max 2016, and all appdata\local, programdata, Program Files and other Autodesk folders after uninstalling.

However, I am presented with the same error every time and I am also unable to choose to continue the trial that I had started.

I'm then tried reinstalling with the Trial settings next so I can get back up and running until this is figured out.

It then displays:

A previously registered and activated license for your product was found on this computer and is now in use.

A copy of your activation information has been saved to:
             C:\Users\pjd0347\AppData\Local\Autodesk\3dsMax\2016 - 64bit\ENU\3DSMAX2016en_USRegInfo.html

I click Finish.
Here is the error that then appears:

Establish an intenet connection to continue.
The Autodesk license server cannot be found.  This problem can be caused by a variety of issues, including:

  - Internet connectivity has been lost

  - The Autodesk license server is temporarily unavailable.
When I eventually give up Trying Again and I click on the Quit button,

The software license check out failed.  Error 20
But this is NOT a server license, it's an activated standalone license!!!!  I shouldn't need network access
Note: I work at Boeing and there is an automatic proxy script (which I don't think I can do anything about).
