Acad 2022 installs from image hanging on "Finalizing..."

Hi All,

I made deployment images on the server for autocad 2022 and aec collection.

At first I only did AEC coll, and would tweak the xml to control what was installed, but discovered you must do the basic autocad install also for users with just acad seat. (still fuming over that).

Anyway, what we are seeing is some of the autocad installs hang forever.

I run these installs using a batch file, with admin logged in.

I had been using the -q option for silent install, but then switched to "basic UI" mode to see what was up.

The installs sometimes hang on "Finalizing the 2022 install" step.

I have to kill the install task in those cases.

Then I rerun the install and it finishes most of the time.

I can repeat the hang if I uninstall acad and reinstall. The first reinstall hangs and 2nd run finishes.

I read others were having issues too.

I also see the hanging with the AEC coll install.

Anyone figured out how to troubleshoot this?

@TravisNave  can you help.

Also @JamesMaeding    you've had a lot of small troubling issues. From assigning to deployments.  If you have a reseller, maybe have get with them to come out and make sure you have all the of it in order before using it, so you don't have any other issues. ( not meant mean, just so if it's up and going and crashing, you're not having to put in another ticket)

Might need the installation log file on one that was stuck.  It would be in the %TEMP% folder.  The 2nd install would overwrite it, so it'd have to be on the first try.

Yes I have, and our resellers are indeed good resources. Its all good suggestions, I just get annoyed when people don't read the posts and reply with generic unrelated advice that is the most popular kb article on the subject. Its like they are saying "google it dummy" 🙂

What I have found though, from detailed troubleshooting on various things with autodesk support, is there are still a lot of glitches going on with installs and licensing.

This thing where installing civil3d will not let you run acad using an acad only seat is a perfect example.

Then the thing where the civil3d install adds MS Access db engine 2016 and screws up office is another winner. Anyone on office 2016 must uninstall that engine and run a repair on office.

Then these installs catching is another, I am doing completely generic installs.

It is what it is, we can get past all this, but it is completely ruining any install automation.

I was installing navisworks and infraworks on our more power users and decided to take that out now.

Its been a big fail for autodesk and they still act like users should just install through their desktop app.

Anyway, forum replies have been very helpful so thanks for that.

Sadly for this .. do you know how many times I've seen people NOT do the AKN / NOT follow the AKN.. to only follow after and be like fine I'll do it again and it works.

Or I'm fully up to date / my PC is above spec's and it's a 10 yr old PC with an Intel GPU and no updates.

We have to start there first most of the time.   The once in a great while poster of the question will have done it all, but the odds are against you and why they / we dumb it down some. It's not as an insult, but more of a hey we've making sure you've really done it.
