How updating inventor 2008 to inventor 2016 on a same computer

I would like to update an inventor professional 2008 to an inventor professional 2016

what's th better way ?

- do I have to keep the 2 versions on the same computer ?

- can I install the new version instead of the previous one ?

Thank you for your help. If there is any documentation explaning this point, thank you telling me how to find it.

There is no "upgrade" in the typical sense.  You just install the new version and start using it.  You can keep the old verison afterwards or uninstall it, but just keep in mind that Inventor is NOT backwards compatible, so once you start using the new one, the old one is useless to you.

There's a lot of difference from 2008 to 2016, so make sure you still meet system requirements if you want to have a good experience.

Good Luck!

Thank you for this answer. I've got all the system requirements for the new version. If I can have the 2 version on the same machine, the old files can still be open. I will explain all these points to the users.

Have a good day.

Yes.  You can import the old files, but you cannot use the new saved files in the old 2008 Inventor.  Once you migrate to 2016, the old Inventor 2008 will be useless to you.
