trying to install 3ds max. Space on my c drive is too tight to intsall it there so I create autocad folder on my d drive, set the poathe to d and it's still asking for the majority of the program to install on c - can I somehow install the whole thing on D? Can't remove more stuff from C without major drama...

Some things need to install on C. The program is good at knowing what it needs where. Most packages can be pointed to a different drive in the installer itself, though suites tend to cluster on the same drive and in some cases, items have to install on C:\.

You will likely be unable to move EVERYTHING to a different drive. All the available options occur during the configuration of the installer itself.

Please understand that some parts of the installation files are necessary to be installed on the root system drive. Shortcuts, registry settings, and profile customizations are all examples of this. However, you may be able to make some system changes that will allow you to install your Autodesk product and avoid this error. Please review my KB article for more information:

Good Luck!
