Autodesk Access Core

I don't want my users getting notifications about new releases, patches, etc.  Why would that be useful to an admin?  They aren't able to install anyway, so it just makes admin job a chore.

I want to turn off ALL access to users other than identity and licensing requirements.

As an IT Admin myself, I agree.  I believe you can go into Task Manager > Startup and disable the automatic startup for the AdskAccessCore.exe process.  That should prevent it from starting up and causing you headaches.

The file itself lives in the following location if you want to tank it altogether:

C:\Program Files\Autodesk\AdODIS\V1\Setup

Hope that points you in the right direction.

Have you seen the FAQ

https://help.autodesk.com/view/ACCESS/ENU/?guid=GUID-2533F9BE-4929-433D-93DE-D330CC6BA3A6

How is Autodesk Access different from the Autodesk desktop app?

Access is built using the latest Autodesk installation technology, providing the faster install experience. The first version of Access focuses on product updates. Access serves as a platform for exciting future capabilities that will make the update experience even better. Here are some of the differences found in the current release of Access:

  • Access provides admin controls to disable their users' ability to install updates.
  • Access includes new update notifications.
  • Access doesn't yet include settings for a local download cache or options for installing from a shared network location.
  • With Access, users are redirected to Autodesk Account for full product installs.

Restart and it is back.
Anyway, I will have to use the registry hack to indicate that installs are admin controlled but this is nuts.
Thanks!

When I disable a file and it comes back, it is affectionately known as a virus.  🤣
