Modify Drawer STL

I have an STL file of a drawer that I need to modify to make the drawer deeper while keeping the top part unchanged.  It is my understanding that the first step is to import the STL as a mesh.  I have done this, but I don't know what the next step is.  My only thought is converting the mesh into a body, slicing the body in two, separating the two sections and finding a way to fill in the space.  Is this what I should do, or is there a better way?

STL and F3D attached.

If you turn off the visibility of the upper handle, what do you observe?

Edit: Besides this issue, I observed at least two other issues in your file.

I observe that it is wrong, but I don't know why or how to fix it.

It may be in the shell command, which I had a lot of trouble with.  I'll play with again, but I don't have much hope in getting it right.

That is not what I observe, but I have a couple of other projects to complete till I will have time to get back to this one.

Check back.

I already posted a file with your sketches cleaned up - I recommend that you start over from scratch (that is exactly what I did for you).

Logically, I would cut a hole for the Handle-Lower...

I think I have a final version.  I got rid of the blue lines, and the extra delete on the back cutout.  I added a cutout on the back wall which I need for one of my drawers, but not the other.

I tried getting rid of the line across the top which you commented on, but nothing I did seemed to make it go away, even starting over with your base sketches.  In that it seems to be doing no harm, I am choosing to ignore it.

I GREATLY appreciate all your help on this project and I have learned many things along the way.  It is possible that I could have done this on my own using brute force and numerous extra hours, but it would not have come out as well and would not have been as customizable.  I think the best things I have learned along the way are Project and Shell.  I will surely be using them quite a bit in the future.

Attached is the version I intend to print.
