The version is overwritten
But instead of just overwriting a file, you can retrieve the previous version. "You can view the history of versions by clicking or right-clicking a version mark, such as "V1" or "V2", and then choosing Open Version History.
How do I retrieve a previous version?
To get past versions of a file
Click on the 3-dot leader to the far right of each version.
To retrieve past versions, use Copy or Download source file.
- Copy: Copy this version of the .rvt file to a folder of your choice
- Download source file:Download this version of the .rvt file
Make it up-to-date
For example, suppose you have Version 1 (V1) and Version 2 (V2). If you want to bring V1 back to the latest, select V1 and select Make Latest. In this case, V2 will not be lost, but a copy of V1 will be placed on top of V2, so you can rest assured.
Comparison between versions

What's in the comparison?
Let's see what has changed. When you select an element, detailed information is displayed.
In this dialog box, "XX Criteria" indicates the difference before and after the change, and "After the change" indicates the name of the changed type. Also, the file name outlined in blue at the bottom indicates that it is the file that is currently displayed.
Click the other file name to view the previous state of the element. In this way, it compares not only the shape but also the information on the properties.
Click the left edge of the three buttons at the bottom of the screen and select tile display.
The two versions being compared are placed side-by-side side by side on the screen, and the interaction between the screen controls (pan, rotate, and zoom).
You can easily check the state before and after the change.
2D views can also be compared
You can compare 2D views as well as 3D views. For example, specify the comparison target as follows:
It extracts the differences in a similar way to a 3D view.
