Let's get started with markup
2D views in Docs have a redline feature called markups. It's easy, so let's use it right away. That is, the points are only available in 2D views.
- Select Docs from the product picker and click on the file to select any published .rvt file.
- In Sheets & Views > 2D, select any 2D view.
- When a 2D view is displayed, you'll see the Markup Toolbar on the right side of the screen.
Let's make a cloud mark
Let's start with how to make a typical cloud mark.
- Click the revision cloud on the markup toolbar.
- Click any point to place the revision cloud. Adjust the position and size by dragging the handles displayed on the corners and sides.
- You can edit information such as line color and thickness by clicking Edit on the toolbar that displays above the revision cloud.
- You can add additional text by clicking the T icon.
- At the bottom of the markup toolbar there are buttons to set the border color and fill color.
- You can also preset the color to create text. Also, like the revision cloud, you can click the [Edit] button to set the appearance in more detail.
Attach a reference diagram
You can attach more information through markups. Any file uploaded to Docs such as a PDF, DWG, Excel or PNG can be included as a reference.
- To get started, save the necessary files in Docs.
- Select the revision cloud markup and click Where > Files from the top toolbar.
- Check the files you want to attach and click Add files.
- The icon is displayed on the right shoulder of the cloud. You can change the position freely by dragging it.
- Let's try how to add another reference. Select a revision cloud markup and click the Edit button.
- You can add references by clicking References in the revision clouds panel on the right side of the screen and selecting Add References > Files.
- You can also remove references from this panel.
- You can view the file by clicking on the displayed file icon (1), clicking on the top of the black pop-up panel that appears (2), selecting the file (2), and then clicking on the file name (3).
Publish markups
Markups are treated as "private" when they are created. That is, you can only see yourself. To share this with them, select the markup and press the Publish button.
This action allows you to share this markup among members.
To see a list of markups
To see if you have markups in your file, view the list of markups. Start by showing any 2D view. Note that you will see differently in 2D and 3D views.
In the 2D view on the left of the image above, you can see the Markup button, but in the 3D view, there is no Markup button.
Click this markups button to see a list of the markups you've created on the selected file, as well as markups created and published by others.
Click on a markup to view that view for quick access.
