Download and Import Custom TTF files into Windows/Revit
- First thing to do is to search the Web for any custom Truetype fonts you want to use. Make sure the fonts you pick are free to use or you pay for them properly. I did a general search with Google and found a site called https://all-free-download.com/font/
- Find the ones you want to use and then download them.
- Copy/paste the TTF files into your C:\Windows\Fonts subfolder. This will ensure the fonts are usable within Revit
Pro Tip: Copy/Paste the TTF files and keep a custom library so you can refer to them later.
Create Model Text in Revit
- Start Revit and create a standard wall to place the Model Text objects on
- Go to an Elevation view
- Start the Model Text command and Choose Pick Face…select the face of the wall
- In the Type Selector, click Edit Type and change the name and Text Font
- In the Instance Properties window, change the Material to what you want and click OK
- Change the Visual Style to Shaded or Realistic to see your work
Pro Tip: Change the Depth of the Model Text to adjust the design (within Instance Properties)
Final Thoughts:
- Thick outside the box to play with this feature. There are ways to change the look and feel of your 3D model texts within the project.
