Most, if not all, architects and designers need to convey their design information in color plans for various reasons. Some require color plans to show room names and numbers, some to show area, some to show volume, and some to show area plans that group rooms together. No matter what the case, utilizing Color Fill Legends, Room Schedules, Area Plans, Room Objects, and various other tools will help to convey the design intent.
Below are the steps to take to produce views showing color plans in various formats. With some patience and a little fun, you can create cool views to enhance your design intent conversations with your client utilizing Color Fill Legends and Schedules.
Steps to Creating Color Plans:
1. Create your 3D Revit model as you usually would (walls, doors, windows, floors, ceilings, etc.):
2. Place Room objects in the floor plan view for all your spaces (office, conference room, restroom, corridor, etc.):
3. Duplicate your floor plan view with detailing to create Color Plans (level 1 room area plan, level 1 color plan, etc.):
4. Use the Color Fill Legend Command to create a color legend for each duplicate plan view:
5. Adjust the color fill legend to show what you want (name, area, area range, etc.):
6. Place your views on your presentation sheets:
