Hi! Current no. 1 wish is 'viewport tear off'. https://forums.autodesk.com/t5/3ds-max-ideas/viewport-tear-off/idi-p/6738064 Taking this one (obvious) step further (didn't anyone yet?), I'd like to suggest a generalization of how Max handles it's viewports and all the panels. - There could be 'neutral', freely dockable or floatable container panels that can be 'loaded' with anything: viewports, UVW Editors, Properties dialog, Scene Explorer, Material Editor, ... - They would have the same generalized set of buttons/menus to lock, close, recycle, choose the content etc. - Following this logic, panels / property pages of all kinds could have a dynamic button layout. It's debatable to what extent, but it's surely worth contemplating. Some are dynamic already (Scene Explorer, Edit UVWs, ...), others are still fixed (Modify Panel, Object Properties, ...). What's the logic here? All in all, Max should leave it's oldschool approach of having lots of specialized, fixed panels in special places. It's general lack of UI consistency is it's biggest weakness. Packed with features, but has this 'nutty professor's workshop' appeal. =} This would be a rather substantial undertaking I trust, but you started this already anyways... When I heard that Max gets an UI overhaul with Qt, I felt a breeze of fresh, warm spring air. But let's go all the way! What's the vision here? This is nothing new, actually. Get inspired by Softimage, Cinema4D, Blender, Modo... Especially Softimage was a pioneer here. It did this right - 17 years ago. Thanks!
