Autocad 2017.1 Update - Fatal Error

I ran the updates that Autodesk Desktop App recommended for Revit and Autocad 2017.1. I now get an immediate crash and fatal error when opening 2017.1. My recommendation, as well as the recommendations of other Experts here, would be to uninstall the Desktop App and forego any updates unless you specifically require a fix that is provided by the update.  The mantra of "If it is not broken, don't fix it" holds very true.  Chances are, you will need to fresh install your AutoCAD again.  If you require manual updates in the future, due to a known issue, then update manually thru the support page.

Hi,

there is something wrong with the way the laguage pack is installed. This has nothing to do with hardware, AV, UAC etc.

If you install the language pack separately with a command similar to this (you can add paths, logging, silent etc.)

msiexec /p "acadLP_ENU.msp" REINSTALLMODE="ecmus" REINSTALL="ALL"

the fatal error goes away and all products work again. In my case AutoCAD 2017, Plant 3D and Civil 3D.

You have to extract the .msp files in computer that doesn have the update installed. (Why this behaviour beats me, it's annoying when testing)

i hope Autodesk could document all these little commands , tips and tricks for deployments and installations

AutoCAD 2017 Unhandled Access Violation Reading 0x0008 Exception at 9ff4bcah

[SYMPTOMS]

When installing a language pack on top of an AutoCAD verticalization (Mechanical, Architectural...) already with an update, and you try to start the product of Language Packed version, AutoCAD first gives an error like this one:

 and then crashes with an error similar to this one:

while the core language still works fine (for "core language" I mean the language of the initial installation).

[FIX]

It appears to be a known issue, but I haven't found any reference to the specific error, so I'm writing it here and maybe other users will save time.

You don't need to reinstall AutoCAD (that's the long solution for people with a lot of time and not many installations to manage).

The issue gets solved if the update is reinstalled after installing the Language Pack.

I am not talking about the "AutoCAD 2017 Service Pack 1". The right update to reinstall is the

AutoCAD 2017 Service Pack 1.1

that can be downloaded via subscription account (about 450 MBytes file).

After that action also the AutoCAD and its verticalizations will work properly even in the language pack version.

Of course, if you install multiple language packs, then install the update after the last one.

To completeness of the information it is important to mention that alternatively, "Control Panel / Programs and Features / View Installed updates" selecting "AutoCAD 2017.1.1 Update > Change" and clicking on "Repair" has the same effect:

After either or action also the AutoCAD and its verticalizations will work properly even in the language pack version.

I uninstalled the Update 2017.1.2 and just reinstalled it and it started running fine. No full uninstall needed!! thanks
