Guest user account for autocad 2007 network.

Hi,
Is there any problem with running AutoCAD 2007 network version under Guest
account in power user mode on a Windows XP?
I certainly do having a problem.
It runs fine under any user except Guest account, even if I make it
Administrator. it comes up with error 1.5, -5, and can not get license,
otherwise it works fine and get license. (under any user but Guest Account
even with administrative right..

You should make sure that you are able to ping the license server. It's most
likely since you lost the path for the license server.
One try would be to set the environment variable like this (before running
the application):

LM_LICENSE_FILE = @server

Thanks for the reply,
I can ping the server no problem and I can run it under any user but Gust
account.
This is the LicenseErrorLog.txt just in case somebody knows anything about
it.

There is something fundamentally wrong with enabling the Guest account and giving it elevated privileges. *sigh*

IMHO: NEVER use the Guest account.
It's an account wich is easy to access from outside (hackers).
If you want to make use of an account for 'random' users, just create a
account with an easy name, give it the appropiate rights and make sure
to change passwords regulary.
It's hard enough to keep a regular network safe let alone that users
start to enable the Guest.

jan

I don't agree,

Guest account is a very useful account especially because it is an account
that has been harden by Microsoft and it is much safer than just creating an
account and elevate it.
