Sorting by Sequence Number in CR Report

Sorting by Sequence Number in CR Report

Sorting by Sequence number in a CR report(or other reports) would be very useful to have as it would help maintain the BOM structure of an assembly. Currently our reports are sorted by Item number only which does not maintain any BOM structure.

Ideally what we want is sorted by sequence number first and then within that sort sort by Item number. This can be done in the web app via configure sort but because sequence number is not a field available in the jasper reports we cannot sort by sequence number.

The export to excel function exports out the sequence number so we can use that for grouping sub assemblies but the jasper reports do not.

Dear @pranit.nagare,

Thank you for submitting in Upchain Idea Board.

Q1: Can you please describe who is consuming those reports and what are they looking for/gaining out of reports?

Q2: Do your users always expect the same Item position in reports, same Items in the same position, or they are good with Items changing their position when they are moved on BOM?

Best regards!

Tomislav

Hi Tomislav,

Q1: The report will be consumed by Project Managers, and our suppliers to identify design or documentation changes and the instructions to implement them in production.

Q2: The item position should reflect the sequence number in the system. The main thing we want is that a BOM structure is reflected in a report so we can identify the subassemblies so the suppliers know which system/sub-system is being affected.

For example. In the CR window the sequence number is shown which matches the BOM in the web app. In the output, its sorted by item number and there is no indication of the relationship between the parts. In a CR with multiple assemblies it is useful to have that relationship shown.

Hi @tomislav.horvat8NHUW ,

I was wondering if there have been any updates on this.
