View Ranges of linked models

Obviously we cannot rely heavily on linked models especially if from third party consultants but Autodesk needs to add features that allow you to adjust settings independently from the host model settings. Linked model views will keep getting reset to 'None' stripping all settings and leaving us with **** prints and loads of rework. I get it, there are volatile risks linking in views from models. 

Example below, why can we not set a customizable view range of the linked model without having a view linked? Since linking in views is unreliable at least give us an option to customize these basic settings of our linked models.

Agreed. We have elements from the architect's level above showing up on our MEP plans because of things like recessed showers or windows that cross below the cut plane. We cannot reduce our view ranges without losing ductwork or piping rises. Controlling by linked view would require linked views for each level or view and negate the benefit of view templates.
