Update AVI export processing

Update AVI export processing

Exporting an AVI file for a walk-through and/or solar/shadow study no longer works in Revit 2018, but was ok in 2016. Ok, but only just.

We need a solid functional tool to export and share animations we can see on the screen. I would prefer that such a tool be native to Revit, not cloud based please.

How hard can it be?

I would like a simple .mp4 or similar export. avi files are huge and need to be post-produced and converted to a smaller file type. As most solar studies need to be shared, something that can be emailed or sent via social media would be very helpful.

The current export on my version of 2019 has two Intel compression codecs - both version 2.0 - and one Microsoft codec that puts out a corrupt file.

Autodesk, you are making something simple very difficult, please amend this.

I finally found a solution to the problem I was having exporting video from Revit. It turns out there was a codec conflict caused by my Logitech Web Cam.  I posted a video on the resolution here: https://autode.sk/2E16glV

it appears the video is private.. would you mind sharing?  I'm running into the same issue.

Hi tr.jordan,

I have tried to change the privacy settings on the video without success sorry.

The key message from my video is that the problem was software conflict with my Logitech webcam:

The solution via my vendor:

Does this file exist on your pc? "C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\lvcod64.dll"

If so, rename it to "C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\_lvcod64.dll"

After renaming the file, the problem was resolved, Revit exports video and the web cam still works.

As a supplementary follow up, I have to repeat this file rename after each Windows update.

This is effing brilliant!  I have struggled with this for 3 years, never finding a solution.  As a sole practitioner I just did not have the time, so I simply avoided trying to create a walkthrough that I could sent to a client.  Now I can!!  Thank you JohnCameron1116!!
